 Re: Mother
When this first showed up, didn't most everyone complain about the arms being so low? What happened to those sentiments?

Really don't want to come across as a sore loser. So I just wanna say I don't begrudge ANYONE who won theirs in the lottery. Fair play to you guyz.
And Scatt ... I think it'd be fair to say you're one of the most stand-up, honest and decent douchebags we've ever had in the history of Skullbrain.

 Re: Mother
I thought that western buyers were generally not considered when these companies were making their runs. and although Skullbrain "may" (dunno how true that is) be a "Comic Book Price Guide" for flippers I assumed that no companies over there give a damn what we think (with a couple of exceptions)

It would be good to get our japanese friends/collectors to chime in here on how prevalent sofubi/ vinyl collecting is in japan. I was under (perhaps mistakenly) the impression that it wasn't as big as it use to be there. I'm thinking that these smaller companies do see a very valid market here in the states. We are still a niche group but given the amount of money we do spend on these toys anyone would be a fool not to at least consider us. I applaud the smaller companies that do things such as these lotteries and make it open to anyone in the world. It can't really hurt them, expands their fanbase, and a strong yen vs other currencies is always going to turn out well for them.

I'm sure we all have targets on our heads when they're calculating toy design, run size, color etc.

 Re: Mother
YJA results of auctions won by SBers do help set and establish BIN prices and auction start prices. Or its just a coincidence that once a toy goes for 100,000 Yen flippers start expecting something in that ballpark.

I do remember a fairly recent Interview with Mori (in the last year or so) where specifically stated that he didnt consider the US market when determining size run and colorways. That said it was probably before the store so maybe that changed it up. There's another thing that we tend to perpetuate on this board is that if a colorway or sculpt is available through US Stores and in fairly decent numbers (the network or whatever) then it is immediately considered less valuable than stuff that is not available here. Mothers Bemons whatever. Dempagons were fiended on until S7 got them. Of course thats the nature of collecting stuff you always wind up fiending for the ultra rare blah blah but still... just sayin

I share the same sentiment with your observation on perceived value when stuff are more readily available outside Japan. Only Anraku seems to out of the norm as ironically, his figures are available exclusively outside Japan although via an exclusive distribution list hence not exactly "readily available". Also, the collectors here are definitely a HUGE factor for all involved in sofvi, be it, makers, stores, resellers, etc. What's Hot or Not is basically decided here.

These statements are totally false, Abe. I helped to produce the translation of the interveiw with Mori-san in last year's Kai-zine. At the close of the interview he cites how important his fans are both in Japan and abroad. In terms of size run and colorways, those two things are attributed to quality of finished product, finishing artist availability, finances, and creative impulse.

OK Cool Logang I retract my statements. I was just going off memory. Duly noted and thanks for that translation even though i totally remembered it wrong

Zoomy is just scheduled to ship around now but yeah probably a new one soon.
Anyone who can't figure out where I likely wouldn't tell anyway though.
