with all the new harryhausen vinyls comming out i was wondering if this was the only vintage monster that was made ? looking at this guy i would swear it looks like the same person sculpted the rodan jumbo . BTW , clash of the titans is set for a remake again in 2010 .

Wow that is intense. May I ask the maker? On a related note, I hope Beagle or whomever can keep the harryhausen vinyls coming after the Pilot Ace closing.

I totally need one of those. It's one of those similar to, but not quite a jumbo, style toys that I've always wanted, but could never bring myself to buy.. Terron and King Zor being the others. Anyway, I think it was Mattel who made this, wasn't it?

That Kraken is amazing, I might have to track down one of those! Thanks for posting 8)

Kenner Alien is one of the greatest toys ever! It's hard to find them with the clear head dome intact and functioning inner jaws.

The Kenner Alien figure is one of my all time favorite toys. My little brother got one for Christmas when we were kids and I am envious to this day. He had it well into his adulthood with the inner teeth and clear dome still intact, but he let our nephews get at it and, well, I believe it's gone now. :( Awesome, awesome toy!

For some reason, I would never have thought of you collecting Alien toys. Very cool.

I'd love to find a cyclops to set next to this guy.
His tail makes him a huge shelf hog, so he sits on the floor next to my Mr T bank.
The Marusan original is shown for size.

like the popy godzilla talker i leave the tail off because it takes up too much room jojo .sanjeev, i wouldnt get my hopes up on a good remake either . growing up watching all of harryhausens work only makes me hate the thought of CGI fest movie . this kong figure may be a wind up but its my favorite of this character .just thought i would throw it in there with the other non japanese monsters .

Great thread!

VV - you asked if there were any other monsters made from Clash - yes and no. They made small 3 3/4" versions of Calibos and Charon. The Kracken was the only large figure from that or any Harryhausen movie made. I am still in awe at the tail section and the lack of engineering that went into that - it simply slides in loosely and back out again! no pop or anything.

The Kong is gorgeous!! I am assuming you have seen the larger Batt. Op version. That and a Big Yeti also - both of those are two things I regret selling when I had my store.

As for the Alien - one of my faves of all time. My childhood story involves walking into King Norman's Kingdom of Toys in Beaverton in 1980 - I was in my first year of High School! Walked down the clearance isle and there they were - rows upon rows of Kenner Aliens in the boxes all on Clearance for $9.98!!! I bought one took it home and displayed for years until it went into storage and Mom said it went to live on the farm......... sniff... SEGA did some 3/4 scale version tributes not too long back. Not bad made of vinyl. Crane toys I think.
