A sad day for Touch and Go records
News Article from yesterday's Chicago Tribune about the woes of Touch and Go Records.
Not to date myself, but "back in the day" T&G was
the record label to hear really edgy, powerful bands. I can fondly remember the first time I heard Atomizer from Big Black when it was released in 1986...almost at the same time as my all-time favorite band Naked Raygun's All Rise. Albini / Pezatti played in both groups as many of the Chicago scene did. Just freakin' amazing stuff that really had that snarky Midwest youth anger / cold attitude that I was living. And now listening to!
For years T&G dropped releases from a mind-blowing number of groups, many of which went on to bigger fame and fortune.
Man, not having them around is truly a sad thing.
Check out live video from a ton of bands that played at their 25th anniversary all-day event. Man, that Pegboy...love it.
