Can't wait to see pics of your collection....

I went to Michael's and bought a bunch of those clear plastic cubes that you can put pictures in. They were cheap (like $3 each) and they're about 3.5 inches or so. You can even get two risers out of one cube as they split apart for the pictures.

the container store has a great selection of hi-quality risers. they also have this great 3 tier spice rack. I really like the way these products are rounded at the edges/ corners. a little bit pricey but worth it.

just DYI

1. buy something like this
Image

Tenax-7R causes plastic to become its own bonding agent. Works on styrene, butyrate, ABS and acrylic plastics. Apply Tenax 7-R with a fine-hair bristled brush or a Touch-N-Flow applicator (#232-711). Nonflammable, non-sniffable, non-sticky and leaves no residue. Bonds in seconds and dries in minutes.

Runs about $3.75 or less in hobby stores.

2. Get some plexi from a hobby store or from a hardware store and cut it down to size.
3. need a form for good angles? shape it on a piece of wood like a 2x4.

Save the cash and get the same results :D

There are tons of creative options out there, though I admit that clear acrylic risers usually look the best/cleanest. I use lots of spray paint can lids for risers (we go through spray paint daily at my work and I have access to all the lids I could ever want). They're about 3", stable, good width for most toys to stand on, and the variety of colors can make a shelf look really fun.

What size are the shelves? A lot of places make tiered things, but they won't do much good if they don't fit in the case. :)

I have spent hours upon hours figuring out riser solutions, so hit me up with your measurements & I'll let you know what I've tried & failed with! :)

after trying all of the various store-bought risers out there, I agree that DIY is the best way to go.

You can measure you new set up, design exactly the right height, width, tiers, etc. then go to somewhere like TAP Plastics and they will cut all the pieces for you. All you need to do is glue them together with their special acrylic glue.

I agree making your own gives you the most flexibility on your setup.
It's also a bit cheaper.

I did some plexi-glass projects in college and went to a glass repair/auto glass shop for remnants.
They just gave them to me and I had more than I needed.

I bought a set of risers from "1lasercreations", I assume we're talking about the same seller. And yeah, fair prices and solid risers with no wobble.

Those plexi cubes they sell to display collectors baseballs work pretty well, too.
