I wonder if you could put the mechanics of a small noisemaker - the one that sounds like a crying baby in there so when you picked it up it cried.

poysntixels wrote: need. more. acetone. be careful man. too much acetone on the toys will ruin the actual figure. it starts to melt them. if you use just a little too much, the vinyl will feel sticky to the touch. if you use a lot too much, it can actually eat through the shit and leave holes and such. if you are trying to strip the figures down to raw vinyl, you might be better going with a route where you strip it as much as possible then cover the remainders with some plastic primer to give yourself a nice base coat to work on. i finished my 3 pieces for the show last night. had a snafu when it came to re-assembling them but i got past all that. the arms and heads on my figures are painted into place, so i have to make sure i send along a note that says DO NOT try and move head or arms or tentacles of figures. excellent work so far guys!

Re: “It Came From SkullBrain" Custom Show - CLOSED!
I have the 4 small dokus done, ready to pick, pack and ship. Stripped 2 of the 3 larger toys and started over, one of them twice. The last of the pool, the M1 clear hedorah, despite what I thought would be adequate seal coating will dry about when the Mayan Calendar ends or else it is permanent fly paper. Which is too bad, because it's really looking kinda nice. I'll prolly end up sending 2 dokus and the Bander. Will not paint another toy until I can set up better. I mean it's been a lot of fun, but there's a lot to be said for following some of the advice in the customs column (double action, compressor, vent, mask, quality VColor, etc.).
Did you guys know that if yer using a metallic spray from a can and if you didn't shake it quite enough or put enough seal down between coats that a fine stream of PURE SOLVENT squirts out. Anything it touches (8 coats deep in places) immediately puffs and lifts up like furniture stripper. Yay. Fun.
I live, I learn. Thank god I get to look at you guys stuff and get inspired to keep trying.
I am now drinking the acetone.

I am now drinking the acetone. That why the sticky is there, follow advise and save money in the long run. OR you can prime it and use createx water based paints. That will work also.

LASH wrote: poysntixels wrote: I have the 4 ... I am now drinking the acetone. That why the sticky is there, follow advise and save money in the long run. OR you can prime it and use createx water based paints. That will work also. Yah, I started out using workable fixative to seal as it has been reliable on wood, canvas, paper, etc. Didn't go with regular primer because I was hoping to have some GID base show through. Am using an unholy mix of paints. Didn't like the color pink that createx has and was worried about getting a color mix right. Also, I have this way cheesy fake airbrush hitched to a can; no matter how I adjust it, it sprays big wet drops of thinned createx. The damn thing might be okay for flocking or as a disposable sand blaster. Think that I'll just get a real airbrush now (friend is selling some off). So everything I'll be turning in is moderated can spray and hand paint. Used cardboard boxes for spray booths standing outside in 0 degree temps. Didn't want to buy stuff or punch hole in wall for venting 'til I could figure out whether I liked doing this or not. I have a lot to learn but I really love doing it. Now to get a little more real with it and practice a lot.
