I have to ask though, as I have noticed it in your Flickr shots before; Don't you already have the green spray GID Emupaiya Ecchi? I assume that is the auction you mean. Not that this justifies Celga sucking it up so hardcore, but did you want 2 or something?

It actually was for a trade with another member. Which makes this sting even more because now I look like a douche because I assumed I won.

I've just spent a week having an email argument with celga staff after they sent me a shipping invoice with the oldest item in stock missing from it. I emailed to check I would still receive it even though not listed - at first they had no record of it, then said they had it but I'd have to pay to have it shipped in another box, then almost a week later they said they think it must be in the box, but just not listed on my invoice, as they don't seem to be able to find it now!!! It's their policy when a box is sealed that they don't open it to add items but they could at least check to see if what I've paid for is in there.

It had better be in the box when it arrives

I had no problems in the beginning but seem to be having a few now, and I'm not alone...

They did this exact same thing to me last september Ian. Magically forgot one item, then charged me again for shipping the one out.

While I appreciate the suggestions to go Celga gold. I'm definitely going with another service. This last problem was the straw the broke the camels back with me and celga. I've had too many problems over the last 4 months to have any confidence in them.

Sucks man. I had nothing but problems with Celga until I went Gold. I was going to look for something else too, but everyone was just the same "try gold try gold!" It works well for me now.

Sadly, I still have some issues. The sent an item in Oct. to the wrong address, it was returned to them and they say they still haven't gotten it back. Maybe, maybe not, but now they avoid my emails regarding it yet answer any to do with me paying them for new items won.

Actually there IS a problem with having a CELGA Gold Account. Ive bid on a few auctions on YJA and then I've been actually outbid by Celga on behalf of a non gold member. If I'm paying you a yearly fee to be a GOLD member then you shouldnt outbid me for some random celga bidder. I've emailed them and they were all "sorry we cant keep track of all the auctions of our gold members" which of course I understand on one level but still its not very "gold" if a celga-noob can jack your bid with no recourse.

Celga may have been around the longest, or is the most often used amongst skullbrainers but there are so many other bidding services out there- with better bidding options. Look around, you'll find a better match. I am. Being gold also doesn't prevent mishaps, bad communication, etc etc which slowly but surely they've become known for. Then again if your happy with them your happy. I just happen to be not so happy with them anymore.

if you find one with better rates... particularly in the auctions that end with the bidding in the 1000-9999 yen range, could you let us know?

yes, this has happened to me more than once. I complained as well, but was told that being a Celga Gold member does not mean you are protected against a non-gold member.

I thought all this was moot because eBay and YJA were going to merge or something...?

on a side not, i agree.. celga is not perfect. i won an item once (and i'm a gold member)... never got an invoice & i was over extended money-wise, and never got the item. so i just shrugged it off

I'm waiting to see how Celga pans out. I pre-ordered a CCP figure and I'm monitoring that one closely.

Rinky can kiss my balls. I went through them to get a few 1000 - 2500 yen figures on Yahoo Japan Auction. For 4 the total came out to something like 4500 yen....then all of the fees started to come in. First off was $20 per item fee. FLAT...so instantly there was $60 added to the bill. Then there was EMS. Dig this - they estimated the weight and billed me - by over 3500 yen more than what it should have been! I contested the weight and they manually weighted it and wadda ya know - it was lower.

Overall I think I paid 3 times as much for the figures I got. Yes, I got some rare pieces....but at a fee-riddled premium.

Yes, ebay and YJA are supposed to merge this year on some joint venture.
Possibly a ebay front end to YJA.

Too bad. Ebay sucks ass. I hope the world economic crisis screws up that merge.

Totally not looking forward to it as it will open up YJA to the masses.

There's been talk of this 'merge' since 2002...not so sure it's still happening.

This sucks. I've ordered some stuff fairly regularly for the past 6 months and noticed delays in communication or even invoices since the Yen started to get hammered against the dollar. Also, it seems like their staff has changed as far as the folks I deal with as a non-Gold member. To top that off, I think the new Celga online/login system is a bit wonky. I program stuff like that for a living and it's inconsistent.

I have a funny feeling they planned on this new software to make life easier, and it didn't. Then the exchange rate screws up. And tada!

I still like them and will support them though. I'd rather deal with a proxy who knows me and who can communicate errors when they make them than it falling into a customer service void.

LOL. Go figure I pay for my shipping invoice 4 days ago and it still has not shipped based on the EMS number they gave me. I think squirrels could do a better job responding and shipping things out than the celga staff.

Despite requesting different, the dumbasses at Celga have just shipped 4 months of 'wins' to my old company's address . . . given the way our business partnership ended I'm real glad one of the good guys snagged it first . . .

There's a definite decline in service and quality of communication recently!

Celga have never sent me any shipping/tracking details and I've received at least 5 boxes from them now. Didn't know they even did that!

I had to go and pay a 'ransom' fee, from parcelforce, of £24 today for VAT and a release fee which pissed me off but at least that not down to celga!

My toy in question (earlier in this thread) that I was unsure if they had actually packed in the box, due to a mix up, was in there so I'm happy. Still on the lookout for another company tho...

Crescent Shop has live auction bidding without paying for a "gold" account. Their fees are better than Celga's for items between 1001 and 7500 yen. When the dollar was stronger, their fees for all other price ranges were also better since they are calculated in yen instead of US dollars like Celga's. They also offer a variety of shipping methods, including EMS and SAL.

They only take paypal. Any deposit you send will be 10% of your buying power.

Wow this sucks to hear. Last year when my wife lost her job and money was very tight Celga really worked with me to pay off my balance. They even ate the shipping cost. Of course I haven't used them since so maybe they have new people working??

Just so you guys know, I doubt very much whether the eBay/YJA merger will affect overseas bidding or proxy services that much. I sell items every now and again on YJA, and there is an option for sellers to allow overseas shipment. There is even an option to put up an English language listing along with the Japanese one. Refusing to ship overseas is not a YJA issue, its a seller-by-seller decision. There are a few places that actually do accept overseas orders, but it seems like they are usually Japanese retail shops that list some items or pre-orders on YJA.

In terms of account registration or payment methods (right now if you want to pay through credit card for a YJA auction they use a system called Yahoo Kantan Kessai) there may be some changes, but I imagine you will still have to use an intermediary of some sort for overseas orders, at least for shipping.

Celga is really pissing me off. I just won an item and now apparently the person who handles billing is out of town?! Wouldn't you have more than one person who can handle billing if you're going to offer a somewhat "realtime" service. I also ordered something that was in stock on a website..placed the order...didn't hear anything for a 10 business days or so and sent them an inquiry and they told me one thing to make it sound like the item had been ordered...then about a week later they said oh...sorry we weren't able to order that in time and it's now a backorder/preorder and we can't refund you so you just have to wait.
