 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
there have been an unusually large # (maybe 3 to 5) of clear pollution kaiju by bemon being sold and not a one of them came with a header card which is odd.
i dont know who would go through the trouble but if they did it for bxh and kaws then its defintely plausible.
anyone have one of these clear polution monsters to inspect?

Where are they being sold? YJA?
If so, can someone post a link to a finished auction?

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
I've heard of the Bemon rumor. And heard that the quality is clearly bootleg, though I don't have pictures. There are other bootlegs out there. A certain E-bay seller in HK sells bootleg Sick boys, and other Japanese urban vinyl like Tokyo Gunz, I bought a Sick boy from him and was very disappointed. If you're going to sell a boot ok, but be honest about it and hook it up at a bootleg price, I'm sure you'll still get plenty of buyers interested in a boot Bemon.

Phew! At least mine's all good. They're from Joe and Oni. The only bootlegs I condone are if they are crappy and crude sorta like making fun of the real thing. Any other for of bootleg I HATE

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
Yeah. Both Joe's and Oni's came with header. The header artwork matches the color of the vinyl.
I do think it'll be pretty easy to tell. Bemon is made in Japan, so any bootleg won't be sharing the same mold. Don't think its on YJA, more on fleabay.
Actually bootlegs of Made in Japan vinyl are pretty rare, unless others can share their experiences.

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
Bootlegs of Japanese vinyl are very rare because its a pretty tight-knit community. And since the people making the figures know where there molds are and who has access to them, it would be very difficult for a producer to start making boots on the side without someone wising up. Make a couple bucks flipping bootlegs in the short run, lose all your clients in the long run.
China, however, is a bit more tricky. One reason being there are a lot of factories and not everyone actually goes over there to check the factory out. Plus, you might be dealing with different people each time and not know exactly where the work is being done.
I've heard these boots are coming from China, which means that somebody probably got their hands on a regular Bemon figure and made molds from that. If that's the case, no matter how high the quality the figure is gonna be smaller than the original by a noticeable margin. To my knowledge, the only way to get one at the original size is either to get your hands on the original prototype or molds or to use an expensive scaling technique, where you would scale the prototype up larger to account for shrinkage during the molding process.
However, if these guys are too lazy to even make headers, I doubt very much that they are going to bother scaling the figure. Just crank them out, post a picture (which will probably look extremely similar to a regular Bemon) and throw them on an auction site.

Look out for unofficial customs as well. Assuming the people competing on that know its not by Bemon guy but maybe they don't.

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
When I got my hands on the yellow painted Bemon (aka rasta), I paniced at first Because it seemed so light compared to my other opaque bemons, it was the same size However the vinyl was a bit thinner throwing me for a loop.

The vinyl thickness varies quite a bit from one to another. Some of the older HP versions are significantly heavier actually. I've also noticed that some of the recent Mixed Parts are quite a lot thinner as well.

LASH wrote: Odd I'm experiencing the opposite, painted have been thin, my mixed parts and clears are think as hell. How thick is hell exactly? It's a total mixed bag. The solid vinyl in the mixed parts can be very thick (the pearl is heavy duty!). I've also noticed that the vinyl from the original mixed parts series is insanely hard.

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
The fact that someone is attempting to unload these here is fucked.
That is the weakest available sauce.
Too many shady characters in this hobby lately. Too much $$$ ruining the fun.

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
Yeah I was curious on thickness as well. Like Oni, my Rasta is thinner than a lot of vinyl toys but the paint quality is tops and it's the exact same size as my other Bemons. My mixed parts one is really thick, same with my HP.
So is there ANY proof these even exist or is it all just rumor right now?

 Re: Bootleg Clear BEMON???
That is an interesting thread Chris, but it never addresses the issue of a possible bootleg, just the ethics of flipping. The possibility that someone is passing bootleg figures here is new level of shady business.

Well I hope no one bites on a bootleg. I like that this community is quick to address shadiness though!
