 Cool Eleking from Art Storm
Sorry, can't link pictures from their site, but take a look here: http://artstorm.co.jp/ultraseven_eleking.htmlReally digging the sculpt on this guy, particularly the face. Also like how they have the tail curling up, so he doesn't take up a ridiculous amount of space on the shelf. A little more realistic than most of the stuff I collect, but very cool nonetheless. The Pit-Seijin is really cute too... even has the little baby Eleking! (although the boots could stand to be a bit smaller... but that's probably just for stability)

Re: Cool Eleking from Art Storm
kinda funny vel that you should post this since the sculpt for this eleking looks quite close to the [final] sculpt that CCP released - which you had mentioned Quote: They're extremely well sculpted, and have great paint apps, but to be honest, its just not my cup of tea. Kind of like McFarlane does Kaiju... really detailed and well done, but doesn't really make me want to run out and buy it. vs sure the paint up is different, but both are pretty realistic and have similar features. I had bought McFarlane figures since they were released and the Art Storm figure smack more (to me) of early McFarlane Spawn releases, i.e. too cartoony. On a side note - who is this guy?

Re: Cool Eleking from Art Storm
one thing I was thinking about on the train ride in is how Art Storm seems to have two different arms of their company - one that does more realistic (with a bit of a horror bend) and the other has a more stylized, almost fluid / cartoony look to it. Last year's Alien Zareb was bad-ass - and pretty realistic while the (now) pre-order Hedorah...statue(?) is melty, cartoony goodness. I wonder how much influence Fewture has on the releases. And when did Fewture and Art Storm join forces? I seem to remember a long time ago they were separate companies.

Re: Cool Eleking from Art Storm
Really? I can see the parallels in the face but the texture on the Art Storm one and the proportions look pretty different to me (particularly the legs and tail).
Sorry, didn't mean that in a bad way about CCP either, I really do have a lot of respect for them and I think they make some great figures. I just don't usually buy stuff on the more "realistic" side of vinyl. To be honest, I won't be picking this guy up either but I still think its a really cool toy.
Not quite sure about Art Storm/Fewture's release plans. I do remember Fewture being more horror and resin oriented before, lots of Nirasawa stuff in the 90's (the Monster Girls line of figures and resin statues stands out). Don't know when they merged, though. They also have Dragon In Design who do historical 12" stuff and Lillics who do girlie figures under their umbrella. Also Planet Toys, who did those Hino Hideshi vinyls a while back.

Re: Cool Eleking from Art Storm
No problem the Dragon In Design figures - I'd be curious to see if they 're the same company that I talked with years ago at Toy Fair in NYC. At that time Dragon was a 12" figure company that had some really cool stuff, very detailed but I thought they were an HK / Chinese company.

Re: Cool Eleking from Art Storm
The Elekings are cool...but holy sheep shit...that glowie Hedorah statue is fucking killing me!
Granted, it's not that big (7.5") and it's a statue with a base, not an articulated figure...but that glow effect is pretty sick.
