Yeah, most def! That and the paralyzing fear of if it fails I would be unemployed with a wife and baby and no way to support them or anything to fall back on including no health care. It's pretty horrifying, and take in that I wouldn't know what I was doing, it makes it worse. For me it's more like if I tried right outa college or before I started a family the risk would've been nothing, it's my life I'm wrecking if I fail. But now that there's 2 others who count on me, I just couldn't take the risk. Sorry, didn't mean to take this thread and turn it into "Fears of Opening Our Own Business" thread hahaha. On the Apple Dumplings, you gotta beware. They draw in gangs!

Limited GID cupcakes! Unpainted/proto cupcakes (available for purchase only to Cupcake Nook Society-CNS) Best of luck Scott--what a noble reason in putting up this family business. By the way, will you do on-line orders and sell to international guys like us?? Or "US Addresses only".

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
Great idea Scott!
When I lived in NYC I would always make trips to Sugar Sweet Sunshine cupcake shop on Rivington. In fact whenever I go back to visit NYC I still make a point of going there because the cupcakes were that good! Point is if you have good cupcakes people will keep coming back....

Destin is in the northwest panhandle of Florida, and Tampa/St. Pete is in the central Florida. Too far a drive I think, but flights into and out of Tampa International from all over the country are always reasonable. Which reminds me my visit to the 'ville is long over due! I see. I am headed to Destin this June and was just wondering if we would be within driving distance. Yes, you do need to make your way up here! Derby is just around the corner... and don't forget to bring cupcakes when you visit!

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
Scott - cool!!!! Nice to see your vision coming to fruition!!! Now - as for my market research help a couple of months ago? Oh lets say a dozen mini's every couple of weeks mailed up? Sound good?
LOL!
Oh and as for starting a business - you basically have a part time job to offset any shortfall the one business comes up with. You will need to pour all your profits back into the business to keep it viable. This is how I started my business way back when (15 years now). I did incur quite a bit of debt trying to keep it open and am still paying it off to this day - BUT If I had it to do all over again I would!! It is a very rewarding experience! I am in the process right now of getting another one started! What am I thinking? Oh yeah - I hate working for other people!
Once again Scott - congrats man!

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
Thanks Mark! Your cupcake advice and tour of the local hotspot truly have been integral in helping us get this thing off of the ground. I will definitely send you some minis for sure. In fact, I'm just putting in a fresh batch now:

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
Wow - a Matango mushroom cupcake with sage and other savory flavors would rule. Who says cupcakes have to be sweet?
