my ICFSB entry #2... M1 GEZORA!!!!!!!
this is the second of my three pieces for the It Came From Skullbrain (ICFSB) show at Super 7. i couldn't decide which pictures i liked best, so i am posting the 7 that i liked the most. Here is the basic show info for anyone who has been living under a rock: When: April 18th (Sat) 2009. Where: Super7 retail outlet 1628 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94115 now, onto the work. this piece is spray paint and house paint on vinyl. this is what it looked like when i started (except mine was pink, not blue): and this is what it looked like when i finished:

Love the color scheme, and I dig the splatter effect. The only thing I'm not 100% keen on is the texture on the eyes: you can see the thick paint underneath and it looks a little bumpy. That and the edges are a bit uneven. I'd probably mask the eyes when I painted the rest or else hit them with some thinner before I painted them up. Love the dots in the eyes, though, and overall totally killer!

Re: my ICFSB entry #2... M1 GEZORA!!!!!!!
good suggestions! the eyes were a bit of difficulty, to be honest. i handpainted them in after laying the base coats down. i followed the edges of the eyeballs by hand, the problem that i came across is that the sculpting is a bit...how shall i say...different. there is already a texture on the eyes on this guy. and then i found that the eyes aren't exactly even. the eye socket doesnt match up with the eyeball. and the two sides don't match each other after many hours i came to love the uneven bugged out eyes on this little goofball. they remind me of frogs eyes for some reason.

Yeah, depending on the sculpt eyes can be a total pain. But the suckers look great!

I love the M1 Gezora sculpt, but never considered it very cute. I think your custom makes it unexpectedly cute (probably the reflective dots on the eyes) and the colors are really nice. The splattering really compliments the texture on the head. It's got a great cartoon character vibe.
