 Alien Bandel (Banderu) バンデル星人
A favorite of mine... Simple, but perfect. (I notice that when I post pics here, the colors and contrast seem somewhat reduced... I keep the sRGB info imbedded with the image, so not sure why this happens here. Any ideas?)

I notice that when I upload to flickr I get the same issue with colors. That figure is really sick by the way.

Still, a great pic, Geo! Breathe some new life into the green that I have. Shifting him up from the back.

 Re: Alien Bandel (Banderu) バンデル星人
Thanks! (Instead of converting to sRGB, I kept this one at its original prophoto working space - it looks better on my display... I had always read that you should convert to sRGB for web postings, but not sure now, based on the results. Maybe it looks just the same? I will try a side-by-side using the two different methods sometime. What do others do? Convert to sRGB before posting? Or is this all just nonsense?)

Yeah I have always had the same issues Geo, I dont know what either, just something I had accepted. May I ask what camera you are using ?? After some talks with Eric I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a Nikon D80 body ,with a sigma 17-70mm lens. I would love to know what your using to get such a great shot

If you go with the D80, I doubt that you will be disappointed. It is a very nice camera. In fact, I used a D80 to take the pics of the Bandel (with a Nikkor 105 macro lens). I often use my wife's Canon point-and-shoot though too. I think that getting the lighting how you want it for the intended purposes (and mood) of the shot is actually more important than the camera (though I have never taken a picture with my phone - I don't even know how to). I favor shooting outside, using natural light, when it is possible. I have a favorite patio chair that swivels - by rotating the chair with the figure sitting on it (on a white board or something), I can play with the direction of the light and shadows. Simple stuff like that can make a lot of difference. I just enjoy the whole process. LASH wrote: Yeah I have always had the same issues Geo, I dont know what either, just something I had accepted. Re: Alien Bandel (Banderu) バンデル星人
Yeah I have good luck with cannon point and shoot cameras. I have no clue why I bough a sony cyber-shot, I hate this camera. Its a I FART A LOT to get a good shot. WIth the cannon it was brainless and great quality.
I have an OLD sony that I loved that broke, so after my dog chewed up the cannon I decided to go back to sony, bad move.
Once I have a few extra bucks saved up I will ebay the sony to help out, at leats get a new lens.
I want to move up the the DSLR level though. After spending all this money on point and shoit cameras I'm done.
I like natural light, but I love my photobooth, all the control I need to get the shots I like. I like the stark black background sort of catalogue shot.

I haven't tried one of the boxes yet, but it would probably be good for control and consistency, like you said.

Any ideas?) if you are using photoshop to touch up stuff, by default it tries to embed a color contrast based on the monitor you are using. you actually should turn this off, as a lot of the time it screws up the color and ends up looking different then you want. i will post the link for doing this as soon as i can find it. also if you shoot in RAW adobe lightroom is your best friend.
