It's amazing how the best laid plans go all to hell in a hurry. We sold our house, and had a plan to rent for a while. Now it turns out my wife found a place to work no problem.

Any suggestions for a fella that needs a job. We've got a place to crash in the meantime, but I really want to get into our own apt. as soon as possible.

I guess the whole point of this is A) I can't wait to be a member of the Chicago community (LONG time coming) and B) am I going to be screwed looking for a job right now? For the record I have been applying like crazy.

If you are looking for an apartment, you can try using a free service called Chicago Apartment Finders (http://www.chicagoapartmentfinders.com). You can stop by their office, tell them what you are looking for and they drive you around to the various locations that are available, at no cost to you. They helped me find my last two apartments and completely hassle-free. What areas of Chicago are you looking to live?

I've worked IT for the past 4 years and Retail for what felt like forever (including management). We're going to be living in the Rogers Park area.

heh, thanks, I'm still hoping like crazy for a transfer. But I've been applying for everything from Barista to parking cars at O'Hare. Once we get up there and settled in I would love to meet anyone interested. A restaurant/whatever would be cool us former Louisville kids love to eat!
