Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
I would love to see any of Mel's designs get produced or get re-issued.
It's hard for me to fathom that any major US toy company would look at these videos and say..."nah...that sucks."
I suspect they say, "yeah, that's cool, but I bet we could design something ourselves and not have to pay this Mel guy...."

Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
THE HISTORY OF THE OUTER SPACE MENThe description read as follows: "Promotional video for THE OUTER SPACE MEN. Starring OSM creator Mel Birnkrant. Visit http://www.theouterspacemen.com for details on their Graphic Novel due out Fall '08 and their epic re-release as action figures." Pretty fucking cool. I wonder what Hiddy has up his sleeve, or if the new designs just correlate with his excitement for the re-release?

Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
Graphic novel looked horrible at NYCC - just saying.
OG Figures looked awesome however!

Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
I have the graphic novel....not the most amazing thing I've ever read, but it provided an interesting contemporary backdrop for the characters and it certainly sets things up well for more story to come. I'm WAY more interested in reissues of the original Colorforms toys (not as interested in the Bullmarks, ironically enough!)...but I gotta admit, that comic was a lot better than I thought it'd be. I'd say it's definitely better than 90% of the comics out there these days...but I guess that's not saying too much! Fuck, I say buy a copy (or a shirt or whatever the fuck else their peddling) just for the sake of showing your support and to help them get reissue toys off the ground.

Original figures remade? Hells yeah, that would be awesome. I saw them at NYCC and was amazed.

Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
Just got a package from SB today and it came with a Warriors sticker. It has 3 different creatures on it, Skull, Skull with eyes, and Skull with exposed brain. The designs are very SBish. I'll post a pic later.

Re: Secret Base new Warriors Series
got a reply from Gary at Outer Space Men: Hi Kirkland it is a pleasure to meet you and thank you so much for contacting me. Well I cannot tell you everything right now, however there is potentially some really big news within a few weeks. I will add you to the list of people who I will reach out to personally before going public on the blogs to explain what may be something Earth shattering. I am assuming that you have been to my site: http://www.theouterspacemen.com. The images there of my series one and two are not to be missed and within the gallery are the images of my private collection of OSM. Mel is quite the genius for sure. I have been to his home dozens of times and the images of his living room which you can see on the Good Morning America video within my site's gallery is just a small sample of the ten thousand exposed and beautifully encased collectibles in full view on exhibit in Mel's museum like home. You are almost left breathless, certainly speechless when you first enter his front door. I hope that you have read my book, the graphic novel is getting fantastic reviews on the major internet sites and is catching the eye of everyone. I hope that you can spread the word that people should grab copies of this first printing as I am going to make a page change in the second printing. I have every intention of doing the OSM figures again. I have to wait for the perfect timing. This will coincide with what I hope to announce soon. Right now the cost to produce series one or two is quite prohibitive for the relatively small amount of figures that I would be ordering compared to what a Mattel or a Hasbro would order.

I met this guy at NYCC, atleast I assume its him as he was talking about teh same stuff as above. Took a lot of photos of his stuff too. He had some figs for sale in teh multi hundred dollar range, upto over $1K. He told me that virtually anything OSM fig related on ebay is sold by him (make of that what you will, but teh inference is he controls teh secondary market on these guys) - but I dont have teh expertise to verify that claim. Regarding his comments above about prohibitive pricing - he obviously isnt familair with what we pay for for our toys on here or some of teh insanely small run sizes.

That center one is totally a decayed Devil Bado. Looks like he's been eating a lot of pies since the 70's.

Nuthin's been confirmed regarding manufacture . . . they may just be a t-shirt line or sump'n! I'm hoping this isn't the case though and a new SB fight figure is in the offing . . . the proportions seem to support this theory and they would slay.
