Any pizza place that puts barbecue chicken on it should be sued.
In Penn Station, on the NJ Transit/Amtrak level, there's a pizza joint next to the Krispy Kreme. I forget the name, but it's the epitome of classic Tri-State Area pizza. I always grab a slice before I get back on the train to NJ.

too many places and all different styles. I do like Ben's but again there are so many different types and each place has their specialty. There's a place in Queens called J&S Pizza, one in the Bronx whose name escapes my memory and a few in Howard Beach.
This is like asking what's the best Burrito/Taco place in Cali

St. Mark's Pizza was the shizzit (before they replaced it with a damn falafel joint).
Hey SF'ers - is the El Toro burrito joint on Mission still there? Haven't been to SF in too long , but when we'd go there on tour we'd literally eat at El Toro every day . . .

Sorry guys, it's actually Patsy's on First Ave. en el Barrio! Brick oven in yo' face! If your still hungry hit the Cuchifrito on 116TH Street, for the best Latin food on the go.
Or to be safe just say Famous Rays! There are about 400 places in NYC called Famous Rays, so one of them must be good.

I think Two Boots is DISGUSTING! at least it was the few times I've tried it.
my all time favorite was St. Marks Pizza, but it's gone now.
I also used to eat at a Ray Bari pizza downtown all the time when I lived there, but that's gone now too.

that's cool. i do have an ocd friend who travels on business almost all of the time, who has eaten at over 90% of the CPK resturants in the country. He has a checklist, and there are onlly a few remaining. When new ones open up, he finds them and eats there too. he took me to one, once, and i will never understand the obsession.
i'm an east coast pizza girl. fuck California style. fuck chicago style.
NY Pizza is the only pizza.

Absolutely. If the pizza isn't served by a bitter Italian-American guy in a wifebeater t-shirt, then it's not worth eating.
Out here in Jersey, where the law requires others to pump our gas for us and a pizzeria must be built to serve every 2 mile radius, we follow two rules of thumb to find the best stuff: 1) if the place's name ends in a vowel, it will be good, 2) if it has some derivation of "Rome" in the name, it will be doubly good.
To wit:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =UTF8&om=1
I've sampled pizza from all of the rest, but the pies from Suvio's and Mario's are the best. This theorem is scientifically provable over and over again. Try it out yourself.
(BTW, a law was recently passed in NJ to require all boxes to read, "You've tried all the rest, now go fuck yourself.")

every time I think about moving away from the tri-state area, I come to the realization that eating pizza would never be the same again and get scared into staying

LOL!
We used to go to this amazing hole in the wall in CT run by the meanest, grumpiest straight off the boat Italian you've ever met.
we called him the PIZZA NAZI we once actually saw him refuse to give someone their pizza after they said something he didn't like.
but DAMN, that pizza was divine!!!!

Pizza dough comes out best when the kneading is accompanied by the gnashing of teeth.

To this day, the best pizza I ever ate was in Queens. A place named Alfies. It's on Hillside Ave between Myrtle Ave and Jamaica Ave in Richmond Hill. It's were Hillside ends and Myrtle begins. I'm drooling just thinking about it!!!
