Roger wrote: When I was very young, we visited a friend's farm in Virginia where they kept pigs and chickens. I adored the little chicks as they hopped around and peeped at me. When we went over to the adjoining pig pen, a couple of chicks wandered in with us. The farmer didn't notice, and he probably would have done something about it if he did, because as I stared in horror, one of the pigs walked over to the chicks and literally inhaled them.
True story. I've never been able to forget it. Roger, this will sound bizarre but I witnessed the same exact thing almost... I lived on a farm in Arkansas when I was young and our neighbor had pigs...I was carrying a young turkey over to their house (I liked to carry it around...so) and was watching him feed the pigs when my turkey got excited and jumped into the pig pen...turkey was no longer of this world in about 3 seconds! I remember that the guy then handed me what was left...I'm still not right I hated Arkansas btw. I took extreme measures with my avatar...though it may be too late...cough.

 Re: Swine Flu
Nasty!
Seeing the pig inhale those little chicks was like watching a seahorse eat brine shrimp.

 Re: Swine Flu
My turkey was unfortunately too big to inhale... and more than one swine was involved...it was traumatic to say the least.
Does anyone else have pets that were devoured by swine?

It can, but so far has not been shown to. In the US the only reported death was a small child in Texas. Most of the cases have fully recovered without lasting effects. The numbers now show you are more likely to win the lottery than even come close to getting Swine flu. There is not panic over higher unemployment due to lottery winnings.

 Re: Swine Flu
It's too early right now to say whether your chances are high or low of contracting the virus. I'm relieved that mostly everyone is recovering in USA but cases are only starting to be discovered worldwide. This is still the incubation period for anyone who came in contact with the new USA cases, so who knows how bad this will get in a week or so. I'm no scientist but if the common flu virus is able to mutate and adapt, wouldn't this also have the same capacity? That would suck having to fight off another flu virus even if it's not fatal.
