It lays no claim to the actual item, contrary to belief, and it's just redundant.


I wish there were actually more constructive criticisms and objective opinions and discussions. There is way too much cheer leading these days. I find it impossible that some people love every toy that comes out.

Everybody pm's/pm'd at one time or another....do a search on yourself and see if one time or the other a pm hadn't slipped from your fingers.

Now pm'ing everything under the sun to get post count up is one thing but an occasional pm or 1+ or single/double word praise is not that bad.

That aint bad. Its the "pm'd for that" in the for sale forum I see increasingly plus other superflousness. Maybe Im jealous because I see others post count climbing and they've only been around for a few months. (for the record i still consider myself a newb). But when I joined on here that kind of shit wasnt tolerated, now its kind of ignored because no one wants to like a dick or something.
I liked the way it was then.
Maybe skullbrain is growing, and cant stay as it was...(sigh)

What I find really funny about the whole "pm'ed" thing is that when I have seen this in one of my sale threads, usually the person is emailing me and asking for something cheaper.

It's pointless. Nobody on this board cares if you sent an email and can buy a toy. I'm not impressed. Show me that you have one figure you love and tote around the house all of the time.
Write a one page post about the one toy you were searching for that changed your life. Have some passion about your hobby and stop writing "+1" and/or "me too". It's boring and old.

I'd like to see things less about "look how many toys I have", and more of, "I have 5 (insert rad toy here)..pretty fucking rad all together on one shelf. I skipped buying the other 40 toys that came out this month, but I love this figure and I want what I can afford."

I'd hate to see the credit card bills associated with this hobby.
Cash only for me, if I can't pay for it, I don't buy it.

I often wonder if SB did away with a post count total, how often would you see the +1 and Pm'd crew posting?

Rarely does one word sum anything up, it's a post waster.

PM'd, PMed, PM'D--who cares if so and so is trying to up their post count? I know I've done that before (not to up my post...in fact, I don't even know why I've done it to tell the truth--just felt right at the time). I don't care what anyone's "rank" is anyway. a nice guy/gal is a nice guy/gal and a douche is a douche OG or not. All I go by is how they contribute to the board. If they suck, then I just try to keep moving and pay attention to what interest me.

I guess what slightly bothers me is how folks here can get all bent out of shape over some shit that doesn't even matter.

There are ppl who care what the post count is.
There are ppl who don't (me and maybe you)
There ppl who collect just to inspire envy across the board
There are ppl who don't (the special goodness!)
That's just what you get when you come to a place like this. a lot of ppl doing a lot of different shit at varying degrees of lameness/coolness.

"Sent you a PM" is a lame post, especially since the recipient will have bold red letters in a box at the top of their screen informing them they have a PM. I always wonder if people are trying to mark their territory, prove to the world that they sent a PM first in case someone else gets the toy. (as if the world would care)

There are so many flakes on this board that I just ignore "PM'd" and move in for the kill while Mr. PMer begs to have something set on layaway while he scrambles for funds.

edit: I dont mind the odd +1 or "wicked toy" either. Done it myself... I see it as a simple way to add your 2 c worth or show appreciation of a toy without feeling the need to have to write something different everytime.

Yeah I don't think it has anything to do with "upping post counts" because does anyone really care? Look at my post count, it's stupid! But I never meant for it to be anything, I didn't even notice post counts were racked up here for a long time. I just talk a lot.

What it is, whether they realize it or not I think, is that it's a "hey everyone, look what I'm buying WHOOP" post. A pat on the back awaiting more "awesome score" type follow ups. Further more, I think it is also a territory thing.

None the less, it's just a waste. I ignore it, it doesn't burn a hole in my brain and piss me off, but it's lame and we could use less of it. Clear the litter up a bit on the board.

Further more, I think I'll post "Didn't PM" for everything posted I'm not pm'ing someone about.

OK, So who really cares about post count? I'm serious, is this part of message board history I never caught? Does anyone here count that shit? I got some huge post count, I never, NEEEEEEVER, even look at anyone's post count. Let the lame-o's post "pssth" all they want, no one here will see that their post count is high from it and go "HEY, They're important!" We all know who the contributors are.
