I got mine yesterday actually (to answer my own wonder about shipments out of JFK on weekends!) and I have to agree with Rich about the base vinyl. It's as purple as purple gets and the minimal paint just shows off what a great figure it is. I mean I for one was skeptical if this would fit my collection or even be that great a figure. I'm so glad I tried because it's a definite stand out!

Zollmen is really killing it right now, and I think the appeal is interesting new sculpts that definitely have vintage feel. They are very modern but somehow spark a simplicity that few companies capture. No figure is over done and they have a line up that anyone can find at least one figure they like.

Congrats on the MB.
And yes, the first two MB included the paw also.

Got my MB today.
Awesome figure.
But how the hell does this happen!?!?

Oh no! Perma-shocker!

I bet a tiny drop of vinyl friendly glue would make it good as new.

Well Joe we all know your a wiz at repairs! Seriously though that is very odd, was the box damaged in any way? Usually Garimpo packs well. Maybe it took a weird bounce during shipping and caught that finger just right.

You know, now that I think about it , mine was packed pretty poorly.

The box was pretty big and there wasn't much packing material. The ole' Baron was just rattling around in there.

Maybe when it was all cold and frozen from the flight, it got bounced and snapped the digit.

Joe, I think it is just a fluke uniquely related to the way Zollmen figures (some) have small, fragile pieces (like the fingers on Mad Baron). When I got one of my MG5s in the mail, the antennae was snapped right off. It was a I FART A LOT to glue back on; mainly because it had not other support and sticks straight up into the air. I fixed it, but initially I was bummed--especially considering the second-market price I paid.

Joe, I'm sure glue will make it look like new but I can see that irking you and it would me as well.
I'm sure if you pop Zollmen/Garimpo an email, they might replace it for you.

Regarding the figure, it kicks serious ass on so many levels. The character design and homage is just fantastic.
Zollmen seems to really be able to balance the paint app and base vinyl usage really well.
And what I really like is their sensitivity towards collectors and fans by adding killer accesories and extras that work as a whole or with other figures ie: mini Alien with Spuds McKaiju to go in MB Building that PK pointed out. Not to mention the Japanese Kaiju show references the figures and pieces exude yet are original to themselves. I'm not rubbing it in, but getting these for retail is a huge bang for the money!
I just wish more of these and other Zollmen pieces were more affordable in the aftermarket.

Now I have to hunt the red bastard down!

Looks like the finger next to it is somewhat "crimped".
Like it got slammed in a door ,chewed on or something after it got painted.

Time to be Quincy about it.

Broken or not, it's a cool figure. At least it's not the head, right? I hope to nab one some day, most particularly the blue but all 3 are cool, and I hope for a clear or metallic gold most.

I'd also like to see other arm attachments in the future, that's always fun!

I think this mad baron is pretty lame... I just hate the big MB intials that are stuck on the front of it, same goes for the rumble monsters proto robo egg.. the writing just kills it for me.

I think it would be way cooler with just the crazy robot face underneath and some freaky droid type guts for the body instead of the plain armor.

I'm pretty sure it's some kind of vintage thing that has everybody in a tizzy.. plus I don't really know much about the character itself... was it a cartoon or part of an old tv show or something...? please forgive my Mad Baron ignorance

Yep it's a vintage tizzy.

Mach Baron and Red Baron are cool shows with some pretty weird robots shit. I think MB represent this Genre pretty well.
Maybe you should check em' out.
Mach Baron has one of the most killer themes of any show of the period.

Otherwise..nothing to see here move on.

thanks for the info paul...!!!

I'm sure I would be much more inclined to dig this toy if I knew more about the tv show or watched it as a kid... not trying to be negative per say, just don't understand or know it's origins. cheers...!!!

I didn't watch it as a kid, but I think it has charm and style and it's clean lines play off of (or would if I had one) well the chunky and uglier sculpts I have.

The picture on the back of the Mad Baron header card makes perfect sense after watching this clip.

Thanks for posting that PK!

It's important to note that the Mad Baron character is made up. It's based on a few different characters from different shows(Mach Baron, Red Baron, etc). That's why it's so much fun, it spoofs popular characters.
