Cool as usual I'm wondering how many pieces Mr.Naoki made/customed because this is another and different version I've known!

 Re: Cronic Collections
Nice! Things have been too quiet on the Cronic front, but I know there are some awesome collections out there, so let's see some more pics folks!
I've been picking some old school Cronic over the last few months. Lots of shelf reassembling going on. I'll put up a shot of one of the shelves soon.

I'm pretty much making a conscious effort these days to stick to only older cronic and any new factory paints I really like.

 Re: Cronic Collections
The NerdOne Nougaki custom is wonderful. I'm usually not a fan of the weapon-based customs, but that one really works for me for some reason.

 Re: Cronic Collections
PV: I haven't heard anything about Cronic @ SDCC. It's been something like 9 months since he's made any "production releases" (BTW, they're all painted by him, not at a factory, which is nuts considering how many figures he's made), but you never know what he's going to come up with. Probably more customs in the coming months would be my guess.
Banshee - Thanks, I think the Nougaki custom came together really nicely. I'd love to see some of those two-headed Nerd One resin pieces (which fit on the Zyurai Asu body) painted. Some great potential with that sculpt.

The guy pushed the envelope harder than any other fight figure company then he practically disappears. Would that be considered burning out?

 Re: Cronic Collections
I think he just found something he really enjoyed doing - making custom one offs, found he could do well with that model, and stuck with it. He's still doing it, so I guess he isn't burned out yet.
I have to wonder if he were to use a more standard "factory" model of painting figures if that would free him up to make more sculpts and release more figures. He probably could open a shop if he wanted to, but he lives in Yokohama so I can see why he hasn't. Would be interesting if he relocated to Tokyo and opened a gallery/studio/shop space, eh?

I wouldn't be against this at all. I'd be willing to sacrifice the idea of naoki painting each figure himself for a continued supply of factory releases. I realize the appeal of a one-man-operation, and I also understand that his painting skills, creativity and ever changing dynamic style are very much what makes cronic, cronic. but I'd hate to think that his toys would from now on only be limited to the occasional show piece, custom and one-off. I don't feel like it would be compromising quantity for quality, but rather a practical way to continue production of some of my favorite toys.
