Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm glad (some) of you like this one.

You say that you dyed it?
Yup. RIT dye. The powder kind. This was definitely an experiment for me and I'm pretty happy with the result. I did a little homework (mostly on this site) to figure out the process and went for it. I recently bought a bunch of SOLID figures and I don't want to waste VCOLOR to basecoat them. The dye works for me. I dyed four Gargamel minis over the weekend and they came out fine. The important part is to re-boil them, after you've dyed them, in clean water. This removes excess dye.

Can I ask what kind of gloss your using and does it seem durable? I've been experimenting with new top coats and I really like the shine on this Hedo.
I used this:

FUTURE floor finish. It's been popular among scale modelers (airplanes, cars, etc.) for quite a while but this is what the new packaging looks like. It's an acrylic clear coat that seems to work great. It flows through an airbrush unthinned and I've read that you can thin it for more of a matte finish if you want. I can't really speak to its durability, but it seems pretty good. The interesting thing about this is that, being a floor finish, it's self-leveling...that is to say, as it dries, it kind of smooths itself out. It's hard to explain but if you try it out you'll understand what I mean.

this sucks!
nah actually it doesnt... i like the colors and the technique. and the photo makes it feel like its fresh out of the bath. my only critique would be i would like to see some of the chesty color used on the back, just a tad to tie it up together.
Thanks for the thoughtful critique. I'm not sure how it would've worked on this one, but I'll keep it in mind for next time. It seems that well-painted monsters have a certain sense of balance to the colors used and where those colors are placed on the figure. Finding it is the hard part.
