i'm getting neither but i do find them to be "curious" art dollies. everyone loves different shit. my grandparents look at a pollock painting and ask if it is art or a dropcloth. you may not dig these but someone will and if they are happy with that...cool. bash away, you have the right but in the world of art/music/etc who is ever truely right? viva la art!

This is where I question the integrity of his "art". Does he really make it cause he loves it? or did he like drawing funny little pictures at first, had a little bit of success, made some money and now just sticks with a generic program to collect that check.

I think people get blinded by the success (aka $) of 1 idea and just stick with it instead of really pushing them selves to make something amazing.

In the end I know this stuff is not for me and I shouldn't get worked up on it, but I can't help but pay attention to a car accident.

Good point Isaac and I agree most people definitly get confused when it comse to sucess and just making money. Alot of people think because there famous for there art that they have to be great thus leaving the idea in there head that there amazing artists.

Personaly I dont think this way. When I look at an artists work a lot of factors come into play for me to judge.

Now he did create the D___y and M___Y etc... which he sold off to KR maybe he did it as work project to get paid for the job that after all is a illustrators job. But then he opened his own company making toys. Maybe your right and hes just doing it because he saw it sell and rolled with it. Or maybe he really does enjoy them. And said fuck it I will make what I want because I can and that was the plan the whole time OR he really does and alwasy did create art like this. And I think he is pushing himself for what ist worth. He is making 3D tags with other great graff artist and there is a gun sculpt etc..

They may not be a revolutanay to all but maybe to him that is pushing the envelope.

He is a graphic artist and his art is done in a graphic artist style. You gotta remember that.

When comparing his art to others unless your comparing it to other graphic art it might look off.

But I respect what your feelings are and you bring up a valid point. I my elf like a different art style so when it comes to original art he is great but not my thing anymore.

Just like the argument of the work done by KAWS, some people HATE him and some love him. I love his work but know damn well he can do wey better. I know he went to art school and saw his ealier art and I know for a fact he is so much better than people have seen.

Also ist just like toys. You cant comapre JP vinyl to Western stuff. Its like comparing apples to oranges.

Again I just think its in the eyes of the beholder.

ha, my 1st impression was a good one. Once I started think about what I would do with it I started to lose interest. I have no idea how I would display it. What is interesting to me is Tristan art work is getting better but the toys seem kind of uninspired. (I had also had a little vino when I posted that comment on KR).

It is so hard to find anything positive to say on the KR board I guess I just wanted to say something nice. I am still open to buying this figure but I am in no rush to get one.

It looks to me that a lot of the toys he gets involved with seem to suffer from crap manufacture. The Skumbo was a cool lil' sculpt but the paint sucked balls, same with the Thinkwells (even though they were gratis), and the chicken looks of similar quality to the freebies given away with the burgers . . . looking at the unpainted chicken head it just looks kinda tacky! I'm sure if Strangeco (for example) were involved in it's manufacture the bar might be raised a lil'.

Same deal on the display issue, unless I were to pick up a bunch of the (mostly sub standard QC) Tris pieces, Yo Moma would just look outta place with everything else!

Remember kids . . . don't drink and judge toys! :D
