Re: Dragon Scout.
I was thinking I would purchase this if I had a 13 yo daughter to give it to, other than that. Slack wrote: I like the dragon, I own this print and love it, got it for my daughters room but decided to keep it for myself muahaha

I'm all for open discussions, good or bad, but I would like to see detractors explain their opinions a bit more and not just post up some tough guy bravado show. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the bashing is some sort of vinyl prejudice or if there is an actual well-thought out hatred for it.

Re: Dragon Scout.
Just thought I'd post this custom Bwana Spoons dragon scout(not to distract from the actual release). I think it was from their collab. show back in december?

I wish Frank would come back. He could stir up some trouble faster than you can say "Ted Nugent".

Re: Dragon Scout.
Bonus. My problem with this thread is out of the staggering 12 posts AV has made, all but the ones looking to help her friend have just been to pimp shows/pieces. Not really adding anything to the skullbrain world, but then again who does anymore. lulubell wrote: DYBBUKIM wrote: I wish Frank would come back. Re: Dragon Scout.
That's cool and all, I just see it as using the board as free ad space. That said, it doesn't affect me at all, I just think its funny how some people get torn apart on here for one thing, while others get defended. I don't think this really "belongs" on this board, but I'm not one to say. That said I wouldn't buy the original toy, but that custom is too cute. Which, again, would mean I wouldn't buy it. Ask around, I don't even own toys. thisishorrible wrote: yeah I dont post on other people's stuff, I just lurk. Come to LA and see how LASK operate - just over a week ago we rolled out teh welcome wagon for Jay coming in from the Philipines, and we've done the same for many other visitors coming into town - whether it involves meeting them at a show, or Astro or inviting vistors to our homes. To me that's pretty powerful stuff and builds community face to face. I'm also going to add that I like Amanda's toys, and a skullbrainer showed me these in person at the weekend and they are very cool. I visit teh local KR every couple of months to see whats up - and there really is a world of dross out there - some horrible, horrible stuff - but this isn't it IMO.

Re: Dragon Scout.
Carl and the LASK crew definitely know how to treat their guests properly. I've experienced their hospitality first hand.
I think we 'Brainers here in the Bay Area also have a firm sense of community that extends beyond the board and the store. Just this last weekend, there were no less than 3 toy / art shows featuring boardies and other artists.
David, you need to come hang out on the West Coast a bit...

Traveling half across the globe and touching base with fellow boardies is an awesome experience. First, BASK, then most recently LASK. These experiences go a long way and makes being part of a community worthwhile. I can't wait to hook up with other members across the US and other parts of the world.

Re: Dragon Scout.
That is Amanda on the right in the bottom picture. The customs for the show looked fantastic. Amanda never ceases to amaze me with her ability to transform a shape you know into something completely new.
And it looks like a few of the original paintings that inspired the customs are still available.

AV's a cutie when she actually smiles. Other than that she just looks mean.
