Post Asian Cinema
Hey guys,
I started a blog recently that has zero followers(obviously) about some asian cinema that has struck me recently. I will be updating it as often as possible. Let me know what you think. If you have any comments or film recommendations please shoot them my way.

Cool. I like your writing style. I watched Realm of the Senses back when I was still doing a lot of Japanese cinema which ran up to about the time of A Taxing Woman Returns. As that culture turned to violent gangster movies followed by pointlessly vengeful spirits I moved towards Hong Kong cinema. Main land China films always seemed to melodramatic for me.

Keep at it.

korea in the early late 90's and early 00's were untouchable. they sadly have dropped off recently and japan has taken back the crown again in my opinion.

Me and my ex were watching it one day and our flatmate walked in, looked at us and said "if you 2 have that look on your faces, I don't even wanna know what you are watching"

If you have not seen anything by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, do it. Start out w/ Charisma and go from there. Some of his films are marketed as horror b/c American distributers have no idea what his films are really about.

Matango for anyone interested.

I had never seen this until the other night, was a bit of a slow burner, but worth it in the end.
And I can finally appreciate the toys :)

oh yeah, plot holes galore! Just need to throw logic out the window.

I think the sad part is that they do know what his films are about, money is just more important. Some of the smartest people out there work in the film industry. It makes it even more depressing that we have to wade through so much trash to find anything.

Anyone give Three...Extremes a view yet? Three short stories. I think two of the three were good. The dumplings one grossed me out a bit too much.

Dumplings wasn't bad to me. It was when that lady aborted that young girl's fetus out. I have only seen the extended cut, so I got the good stuff.

Not sure if this topic is strictly horror / gore, but I've been watching some Johnnie To films as of late. The Mission, Breaking News, Exiled, and a few others. His shootout scenes are spectacular, especially with the music going on.

The Infernal Affairs trilogy is also something good to watch. Sad endings for each one, but very good. Makes the American movie the Departed look like crap.
