Post Underrated Secret base toys
So its no secret that SB has released many many toys. What in your opinion is a under-rated SB release. Here are 2 I think are not spoken enough about:

Colorway: The coca-cola tribute looks amazing in hand and is honestly in my top 5 best skullbrains of all time. There I said it. fight me.
Image

Sculpt: The obake dog. hated by many loved by few. Havingmysay and I bonded many moons ago over our love of this amazing creation. Snoopy + madball = Fuck this rules so hard I could fight a house full of pagans with nothing a but a sack full of cotton balls,
Image

runner up: the dirty color way.
Wish this had been done on a few more sculpts and I think it look fucking disgusting in a awesome way. I love it.

+1 on this and the 2 ubiq 2nd gear obakes. stellar pieces. i also have to admit i really hated the grapple sharkman when i first saw it but after i got one in hand it rules and is definitely underated.

p.s. to scott and alex...obake dogs are still ugly pieces of garbage no matter how much you try to convince yourselves otherwise...

Has to be obake dog. This is the only Secretbase sculpt I like and the one most people can't stand.

I love madballs and love the fact that it looks like snoopy got hit by a car.

obake dog is my favorite SB hands down

i'd actually like to see it with more madball inspired heads (like the boogieman has the tomato heads)

Gotta agree - this set is one of my favorites. The clear purple & glow is a great combination.

And to add to the list, I've always felt the Arttoyz Obake (clear red sheet/ gold body) was underrated.

Post Re: Underrated Secret base toys
Obake dog is by far my favorite SB toy, however I don't think it is as nearly under rated as the body with the zipface head sculpt. We need GID dogs and some clear zippies! NOW! I think they could even give the sculpt more depth if they messed with squishier vinyls on them as well. Pickle they have made three different heads for it too if you count the zombie heads. How many are the boogies on now anyways? A horn head-esque variation for the dogs would rock too, or a full on SBxMadball line, but that would be way to epic.

The most under rated newer figure for me is the 2nd gear ghost. The glow version is one of my favorite SB toys. Good and cheap. That coke brain rules, two of my favorite things combined, I still need to pick one up though . Okay I'm down with this fragmented post hahaha.

Here goes:

OG Sculpt: Bee's.

Bee's don't get near enough love! Obscure fave: All-clear Devilock Bee - clear goodness with subtle gold or silver devilock graphics, and little devilock dude in his chest and two smaller guys in each hand. Suuuuweeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!

Tribute: Convex Microman.
Way, way, WAY underated. Awesome chroming and sparklingy clear vinyl in 4 colors make them a must have!

Collab: Chapter Kun
Finally got one of these guys - super underated Mascot type toy. Pristine pink/red clear vinyl and nice paint job = winner.

Vinyl:
Crazy Glow-C - the power of mixing different color Glow vinyls should not be underestimated!

I dig the Tiffany 'Brain (not so much the Coke one though). Even though it's "newer" it has a real classic feel to it. I keep meaning to pick one up.
The Skulletor 'Brain set is absolutely killer, but it seems to get kicked around the sale forum quite a bit, leading me to think it's under appreciated.
I think the Madball Mantis sculpt is great and really under appreciated.
These days it seems I'm lucky if SB makes one good figure a year. The UNBK 'Brain came out this year so I'm not expecting anything else worthwhile from them until 2010.

Beg to differ, and here's why:

DBM Brain - blue Glow in splatter, bling and regular versions - something for everyone.
EP Bagmen - too many variations? No matter, cure versions and others are classic and use the madball head to great effect.
Darkness Skullwing - classic
Convex Mutan - henshin cyborg tribute with incredible internal organ sculpts
Rebel Ink - NYCC version killed it

Totally respect your opinion, but the DBM is the only one I can kinda agree with. It's not something I was into - but it was interesting.
Hate the Convex figures. Hate Balzac figures. I'm beginning to hate the Usugrow figures, where I was previously indifferent. And the Skullwing was a terrible colorway, IMO...the last Skullwings I liked were the ones with stars on the head (white and green versions), and they don't really compare to the ones that came earlier.
IMO, SB is far too wrapped up in collaborations.

I like the DBM alot, and I don't really think of the balzac guys as SB for some reason, but I do agree with you on alot of what you said.
The skullwings have kind of lost their way, as have the Usugrows (NYCC being the exception) and all the collabs be it 3 tides or convex or whatever seem to be drawing them away from SB centred things.

I don't doubt SB ability to drop something thats a knock out at any moment, and it's nice that everything isn't, as it's gentler on the pocket.

Too bad I still can't get my hands on ANY version of it, missed it because we were moving and now I'm screwed.

I do agree about the bees though, they are way underrated. The only reason people are coming around to the dekas it seems is because they're huge!

I'll add to the love for the Tiffany Brain. I remember so much hate directed at that when it came out, but I just love the whole package; color, concept, and bandanna. Good to see that there are others who share my appreciation.

Awesome thread as I said before.

Lots of convex hate. I'm not a fan of the solid color guys, but teh clears rule - but I seriously recommend people to give em a chance. I think they were devalued because people got'em in their lucky bags, and didnt want them, and they sold on teh board for cheap (how do u think I got my full set) - but they really are amazing figures, especially the set of 4 in teh OG microman colors.

The shonen/henshin cyborg convex tributes are stunning - and I dont think many people got to see those. There was a cool thread in vintage toys about them.

One thing people may not realize is that the convex collabs, especially teh micromen and henshin tributes, werent just a quick collab - Hiddy was was WAY into this project, and a lot of time and money was spent getting them exactly right. I cant wait for teh rumored King Waldar tributes - and I just hope that teh cool reception for teh other figures doesnt negate that release.

Underrated SB- Skullwings with Fingers! Someone already mentioned the Horror Wings (the two with Stars on their heads), but these are the only two official release skullwings with Skullbee hands and I think that is a shame. The skullwing head looks so good with the fingered arms- thing less of a boxer and more of a zombie/mystic kinda feel.

If the darkness wing would have had fingers I would have bought it.

Also- Skullmerry, wish there were more that used that head
