Apparently he did'nt die from a heart attack anyway. He was found in a childrens ward, having a stroke.

Actually, I heard it was food poisoning?

He died after eating a 10 year old wiener?

So does anyone know what the window/frame-of-reference is for iTunes “Top Albums”? Is it like just the last 24 hours or the last 3 days or last week? Because honestly this seems crazy. Are there really tons of people out there who like Michael Jackson but don’t somehow own his albums?

When any musician dies, a BOAT LOAD of asshats all of a sudden realize, for some reason, THEY NEED TO BUY RECORDS BY THEM FAAASST! While I worked a record store a number of artists died, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon, a whole load all sorts of different music. Next day "Hey do you guys carry any ::dead musician::?" I've heard some people say "Oh I just figured they'd stop producing their stuff" ?!?!?!?!?! Huh?! My boss at the time said no one sold more from dying at that store than Jerry Garcia. I gotta call and see if Mike trumped that hippy.

Just for shits and giggles I suggest searching ebay for Michael Jackson and then do highest price first.
When I check earlier today there was an open copy of Thriller selling (with 10+ bids!) for $1,200!!!???
There's also 2 lots of "one of a kind" sales for 10 pieces of Jackson's hair selling for $5k... one of which had a bid on it... bonkers!

I'm gonna kill all the bands on my labels now. Look, times are tough and I don't think anyone will begrudge me on this

When you say 'open copy of thriller', what do you mean? Because my wifes got a original vinyl copy of thriller and off the wall by all accounts. You not saying they're selling for that much are you.................please say yes.

Is there a cable channel that is doing a Charlie's Angels marathon? There should be.

That all makes sense. But we're talking about MP3s and downloads. Not physical albums. This is surreal. Because not only did news of his death bring down Twitter and make Google think they were victim of d denial of service attack, but now it's kind of proven the fact that people will pay for downloads and will rush like mad crazy to do that. Crazy.

no doubt.
maybe a killing spree will take place at some comic con in the near future and i will make a killing spree of sales on comics.....or does this only work with musicians and comic book characters?

also, i do love michael jackson, but i doubt i will miss him much and probably will never buy one of his albums. there is no need, i downloaded the extended thriller music video a few years back and that is all i want. and that is mainly because i'm a john landis fan more than for mj....

nope its physical albums too. within a half hour of the news breaking someone called the record store i work at looking for a copy of thriller and by the end of the day all we had left were 2 used copies of the invincible album.
yeah there alot of people that will pick op the stuff post mortem digitally, but there is still a significant amout that still pick up hard copies

I was out and a bar yesterday evening and overheard two girls talking about wanting to find a karaoke bar to sing MJ tunes at. Another guy overheard them and told them where one was and commenced a long (20 minute) discussion about how great MJ was - a direct quote was "I was crying so hard I had to leave work." Yeah right. He also went on to say something along the lines of "MJ was so great, he paved the way for Obama to be elected. People just don't understand what he meant to the world - they don't have the perspective." My buddy and I were cracking up.

Yeah, that’s kind of disconnected with reality. But if you want to see what a real asshole of a father is, check out this clip. He talks about his son like he’s a commodity.
