You suck punk. In fact I think your the biggest follower ever. You jump from trend to trend here like a little Snickers bar. There I said it. Fuck you! I wish I could put you on ignore like the rest of your cronies. In fact I really think if you ever saw me in person you'd definitely keep your little tongue in check.

This discussion was raised a few years back (way before you were around) after it became apparent that flippers were using information on the forum as a guide on what's hot and what's not . . . threads such as this just make it even easier for complete know-nuthin's to ca$h-in on the collector mentality.

I'd quit starting threads and just post in existing coz you're batting average is dropping rapidly . . .

BTW I collect absolutely nuthin' on your list . . . does that make me a crappy collector?

Lixx, I don't think you wanted to do this out of ill intent or anything, but you HAVE to see how this is. Flippers read this board, it's public, yeah I know that they already know those "top 5" are hot targets, but to add to it and stroke those flames and contribute, even if that's not what's meant? Furthermore, you've gotta know by now the topic of "value" and all is taboo here, and is generally a destructive force, so other than your own curiosity, I don't see any point for the thread. It's the same as calling it "Toys Worth a Lot of Money" or "Hype Em' Up More!" regardless of what your intentions were.

I said it earlier, anyone who's been here longer than 3 months knows what eats the hype, so why put more lights on all of it?

I've been around here long enough to know what's taboo and not taboo, but I really didn't think that my original post was harmful.

If people here really think it takes a post like mine to "tell the flippers to go high now on these 5 toys" you're completely out of your mind. Flippers are not stupid. They charge stupid prices, but I think they already know what toys we want the most. Furthermore I'm not going to be censored here. If you don't like me, do yourself a favor and add me to your ignore list.

What really got me going on this thread was the same few people who love to chime in and start crap with me, did it again. Which actually makes them look like bigger idiots because they can't seem to stop paying attention to anything I post, while I have them on ignore (well except for one).

I didn't say it's because you posted this toy prices are rising, I said there's no point in continuing to bring it up/spotlight it, there's no benefit to it, it adds nothing. If anything, it's more harmful though it may not be the cause. I don't think anyone criticizing this thread thinks that because of this thread , or you, flipping will rise, you're taking a lot of things the wrong way.

Again, other than what you claim is just curiosity, how does this topic/thread benefit the community here even in the most trivial way? Particularly since we all know what the "hot" stuff is.

I completely agree with this. Especially if the 'ahem' american side of "zollmen" is on the board it invites that person to gauge interest on his toy and create inflated value.

Also sometimes I think when people disagree with you or make jokes you really take it literal and go on the offense. Rather then just to find out where that person is coming from. Rather than have a discussion...I don't think anyone said you are a flipper but people DO read these threads to see what is the hottest thing. Flippers don't automatically know which rxh toy is going to be the most coveted till they read a thread of interest.
Sometimes they buy them and flip them on ebay.

It's not personal issue . . . it happened and apparently alternative 'closed' forums were established and off-forum deals done in an effort avoid it!

Sure, flippers aren't stupid but why make it even easier for 'em! . . . It's kinda like all the KR douches posting for SDCC mules . . . like shooting fish in a barrel . . . :D

Thanks Rich - and no Andy I am not on E (or X or whatever its called here) (Aside: friends of mine in ENgland used to tell me I was lucky because I could go out and dance and have a good time with no chemicals needed - however, I did have to leave after an hour because I was knackered and there werent enough guitars)

But seriously, I am surprised by anyone who doesnt experience the same kind of joy from their collection. If you dont get feelings similar to those above I have a hard time understanding your motivation to collect. :?

Go on grumpy manly collector men, admit it, u like to watch your toys fade into the glowie afterlife too

Post Re: japanese toys that hold their value- top 5?
This thread isn't any worse than all those Zollmen threads. Even though "value" isn't discussed on those threads they're doing way more to inflate the price of the figures than this thread.
In a collector's community perceived value is always a relevant topic - and here it's a touchy subject. I can understand why - but unless everyone agrees to stop raving about how great such-and-such toy is, and stop posting "Wanted" threads for them, etc, etc, then there's no way were going to keep flippers or Zollmen from using us as market research. This thread isn't making it any easier for them.
I'd be surprised if the majority of people on this board didn't collect what they like instead of what was liked by others. Whether that majority is 51% or 90% I couldn't tell you, but I'm guessing it's on the higher end.
And I agree with Carl - it is nice knowing that stuff you bought for $x is now worth $xxx. Doesn't mean I'm gonna sell it. I've watched the price of my KAWS figures steadily increase and sometimes I think I'm crazy for not selling them to buy another motorcycle, but I know that I'd be bummed not to have those figures and it'd probably be a lot harder to re-buy those down the road than it would be to buy another bike. Same goes for my Bemons, and my worthless Gas Bawers.

Buy stocks or real estate if you want to worry about value retention.

Buy toys for fun with money you can afford to throw away.

I'm with many of the others that find this thread to be moronic.
