 Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
This could be pretty cool. I still love SHAG and Im a huge "pre-vamped" haunted mansion fan... Quote: Shag will be at Disneyland for a special meet & greet and signing opportunity. Disney will be celebrating the release of his Haunted Mansion inspired artwork created in commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland park.
The event will take place on August 9, 2009 from 10AM until 1PM at the Main Street Cinema at the Disneyland park. In addition to the print above, Shag has created a number of other designs influenced by the Haunted Mansion attraction. Info from here: http://www.plasticandplush.com/plastica ... ed-ma.html

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
yeah this looks incredible. He always does a great job on Disney stuff, but HM is my absolute favorite. I'll try and get something from it if possible.
the event itself on the other hand, such a shitty job on Disney's part. poorly organized ticket sales and stupid "policies" made it impossible for anyone to enjoy themselves if they could attend at all.
for those not familiar, they made it so impossible for people to go with someone else. it was limited to 1 ticket per person, which means if you want to go with someone you would each need to place an order and be successful in doing so. this of course is impossible.
boo disney in this case,...yay for shag though!

boo disney in this case,...yay for shag though! Ed was this the same as the deal with the 40th anniversary event? I am still stuck with 1 ticket to the 40th, and skylar doesn't have one. I'm pretty close to selling it at this rate, because it will suck to go alone. I am hating on Disneyland at this point after the horrible experience. I didn't know the shag event was this hard to get into also. I do have this awesome shag print in my house though from a few years back.

that's a double killer for me...been a life-long disney fan and I really love Shag (hahah - first typed "Shat", which i don't love as much) At the event will be a mega exclusive Shag Vinylmation figure that I will pretty much give my left nut to get (i.e. help a brother out, earn some coin ) L/E to 150, box comes with 9" and 3" figure! If you don't know about vinylmation, check this out for the upcoming series . Damn these new obsessions...

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
Everytime i consider buying the Vinylmation figures, I am torn. On one hand, cool disney figures---on the other, basically KR/[expletive deleted] ripoffs that are kind of ugly. haha.

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
oh i am still bitter about the other event so maybe i'm confusing the two again.
they're probably different events and i'm confusing them.
i saw a lot of those figures at the disney store in nyc and i just can't justify shelling out $50 for them. some of them were great, just not something i would buy i suppose.
i'll snoop around for the merch list. some giclees on canvas that are really reasonably priced though. they're also doing a print set similar to that one they did for the anniversary. the prints are crazy.

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
i can ask ryan tonight...it's the week of his birthday. i think we're flying down on sunday and coming home thursday (cheapest for our timeshare ) we're only doing parks one day, so the rest of the time will be spent sitting by the pool, going to the spa, and eating

oh that's right! i remember now. We are getting together with friends to work out dates early this week--If it coincides, maybe we can grab a meal together or something. Don't wanna interrupt the birthday plans, but it would be cool if it worked out.

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
This merch is so much better than the 40th anniversary HM merch! I should have skipped that & gotten a shag ticket.

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
Seriously, now Disney is trying to cash in on the "vinyl craze". Aren't they a half decade late? Sad thing is, because they are Disney, these will probably do well.

Re: Shag vs Disney's Haunted Mansion
wow...looks like I'll be buying a bunch of shag stuff. I just went to Disney World for the first time since I was a kid...loved Haunted Mansion then and now. My daughter loved it so much, she watches the grim grinning ghosts songs on youtube nearly everyday... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNIPf82BJ54She'll explode when she sees the merchandise...all they had at DW was a couple weird bobble heads and some skeleton keys.

There was a pretty good book that went into the history of the HM and had lots of cool photos, I bought that too. I remember as a kid getting some children's Disney mag that had pictures from the DW mansion being built...I thought the ghost photos were real ghosts.
