I was pretty far back in line and still managed to grab him. Nice score, I was surprised to see that orange Tokoji still sitting on the near empty table in an "aftermath" pic. I'd have totally taken him home.

I have it on good authority that the orange blank was a one of test pull that Koji decided to paint. Neat looking custom for sure!!

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
After looking at the hauls from the gargamel custom line, no wonder there were slim pickings left by the time I got up there (and I ran there as soon as the doors opened). I also think that it's interesting that many came away with more than the 2 piece per person max. Thanks for sharing guys!!!

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
I thought the limit was 2 per person?

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
Yup, 2 was the limit. You could get more if you went to the back of the line and waited your turn again.

So I did some investigating about the Kaiju Blue thing, it appears my crouching Zag was not from that show. Mine Kaiju Blue The Kaiju Blue Zag has green spray and mine has blue. Perhaps more are like this, slight variations? Picture stolen from livingdead.

Looking at all the SDCC customs made me feel left out, so I picked up this beauty from YJA during SDCC: It's a pretty good bet trashout will have a new standard zag for their anniver.

If that's the case I might have to buy a Zag again - that green/blue/yellow Mibora colorway was so great! I got rid of my few Zags a couple years ago because it was a very dangerous figure for me to collect (as in, I'd spend way too much collecting them). But that colorway would just be way too tempting...

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
What's interesting tho is how close the paint apps are to each other. I ALMOST wonder if they ARE the same figure, but the difference is a result of the lighting/color correction of the photos. The location of the paint apps are just TOO similar seeming to me... not trying to knock the artist, who is obviously very talented, but that level of sameness between different painted figs just seems unlikely.

I think you'd be very surprised. Think about production figures. Same pattern sprayed over and over again, in a very consistent, clean pattern. I have no doubt at all that these are 2 different figures.

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
I have gotten 100% confirmation that those are different Zags. Although they share the same spray pattern there are different colors used. Everyone at Gargamel is just a master painter. End of story!

 Re: Gargamel at SDCC 09
who cares if it is or isn't the same figure?!?
it's an amazing crouching zag custom...isn't that the only part that matters?
