age 59. Heart attack while walking with family. Bummed to read this http://stars.ign.com/articles/101/1011633p1.htmlIt's amazing how many classics this man was responsible for.

 Re: John Hughes R.I.P.
That's too bad. Whenever I think of my childhood in the 80's...I think of garbage pail kids, bad synth pop and his movies.

Being a teen in the 80's = John Hughes. Thanks for the great, great movies, sir. RIP.

 Re: John Hughes R.I.P.
Man, sad! Even growing up in England, Hughes movies struck a chord. Especially his outcast vs snob kids vibe and his choice of music. I loved the fact that the latter incarnation of the March Violets (featuring the gorgeous Cleo) appeared in Some Kind of WOnderful, or that he used Flesh for Lulu on his soundtracks.

 Re: John Hughes R.I.P.
He's one of the few who quit while he was ahead (we won't mention Curly Sue). That run of films in the '80s was nothing short of astounding, and no less amazing is that they still hold up today. I can pretty much recite Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club from memory. Thanks for the good times, Mr. Hughes.

 Re: John Hughes R.I.P.
No one will ever be able to do the teen angst movies like he did. I used to go to the movies every time he had a new one out. Perhaps it was the era but John Hughes nailed it. Then again I'm a grumpy old man and feel bad kids today get force fed hollywood crap that pales in comparison.
