 Re: Best Torrent Sites
If you're looking for stuff from Japan, www.nyaatorrents.org is really good. Mostly anime-type stuff, but also music, movies and TV torrents.

Wow, they are no good for music...unless its anime music or super famous J pop. The superstar Jpop can be found anywhere. Where can I find Japanese bands like P Model or Hikashu?

 Re: Best Torrent Sites
yup, I'm a fan of demonoid as well. Didn't realise it was invite only though.
Also check out 1337x.org or isohunt or h33t I check them all if I am after something.

Yeah, its basically Otaku stuff only, but you can find some pretty cool things if you dig (tons of doujin Touhou music torrents and stuff). Dunno about finding more obscure things on BT but have you ever tried Soulseek? That's what I used to always use for obscure old punk 45 rips. it can be sooooooper slow, but there are things on there you can't get most other places. Anyone have a Demonoid invite they'd like to share with me? I wouldn't mind having another alternative

 Re: Best Torrent Sites
oh man. Torrents = bad news. Stick with the newsgroups. I use (and have used for 6+ years) Easynews. Easynews does direct download so there's no P2P action going on. Your ISP / Cable / Verizon service cannot monitor this since it goes through HTTP (or HTTPS / NNTPS) access and looks like your average download (everything is a zip file). The downloads are also fast, usually 1.3 Mbps or more depending on the connection / time of day. The software is clean - I've never had any issues with stuff I've downloaded and installed. Videos are normally put up after they aired. Music, DVDs, ebooks, etc are also available. If there's something you're looking for (and it's not up) then you just post a request and more times than not someone will put it up for you.

That's exactly how Demonoid is  it's not just free range, to keep it cleaner, but due to it being tight knit compared to others, it is sometimes difficult to obtain something that isn't new/currently popular. They do have a "wanted" section and they did have an active forum, but I haven't checked in quite some time to see if it's still up the same as it used to be before they went down for a short time. For a general search engine when trying to find torrents, I am lazy and just use www.Torrentz.com as it searches a broad range of torrent sites, and then directs you to them as you choose. If what I want isn't on there, or I know I'm seeking something a bit oddball, I go back to Demonoid.

I use torrents occasionally (from invite-only sites, not that keeps The Man from being able to see what I'm downloading), but I'll vouch 100% for Easynews. I've been a member for almost 5 years and it = win.
