 JYA Box: Feb - Aug
At long last, my JYA box arrived from Japan last week, stuffed with goodies accumulated since mid-February. Many thanks to Mark K, Akum6n, and Roger, for helping me with much needed guidance, toy identification, and really good advice, as I am still a newbie trying to navigate the overwhelming world of toys! Their kindness is deeply appreciated, thank you! Sorry for the crappy pics, they were snapped hastily before their bath, and I am rushing off for dinner Left to right, here are Giragindo (Bear Model), vintage large-size Barom (he has some neato curly knee designs)—I was shocked to see that he is in really great condition!, Butanohana blue Kanegon, vintage Marusan red dino, vintage Bullmark Gamas (he arrived in his original 40 year old bag with header, and looks like he was made yesterday!), Butanohana green Godzilla is behind Gamas, a set of 4 figures of Parababies—Galvao and 3 Banderus, the full sized Banderus (Marmit) are right behind the parababies, and a vintage Shimada Stegosaurus (thank you Roger, for writing to Marusan directly re. the identification and Chicken logo info! ). Close up I have to say that Giragindo is a very whimsical toy! His ears articulate 360 degrees! Left out of the photo were Butanohana Pandoras (they are new, so they didn't need a bath ) and a sadly squished Barusazu . Joe and Jeffrey (I hope I have the name right! ) kindly found some time in their busy moving schedule to meet with me and discuss toy lore today, as well as to deliver the much coveted Uglydoll Crew Jacket he helped me adopt at SDCC. Thank you Joe, you are so very kind!

Wow- that's a lot of Banderus! Time to start working on the vintage sculpt.
What happened to the Baruzas?

A BIG Thank You! to Grace for all the goodies. It was also really fun hanging out today and checking out all your new toys. It's always great seeing new sculpts in person and getting to play with them. Enjoy these pics of some awesome toys. More here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiendsaint ... 997247604/ Awesome dino. Beautiful condition Barom-1. I want a Barom-1 mask. Love the colors on this vintage Bullmark.

I think the Giragindo is a Bare Model, not Marmit, figure.

Love the Garuban. Hell, junk monsters are really starting to grow on me lately. Must... resist... Gnnaaahhhh..!!! And that Barom-1 is a jaw-dropper. If the shock is too much to handle, hit me up...

Great pickups!
Never knew there were smaller Banderu figures. The Barom-1 looks so good for vintage. And the Bullmark Gamas is gorgeous too.

Re: JYA Box: Feb - Aug
So why the bath? I've noticed that two of my auction pieces came in smelling strongly of something, but not perfume / smoke / household smells. Each were musky, or like some dirt out in the woods. Really bizarre, so I had to bathe them too. My dogs found them to be very sneeze-worthy, as did my girlfriend. Was that the case with yours, or were they just dusty? Nice scores, by the way. I really like how the lot pic is a mix of greens and blues

Re: JYA Box: Feb - Aug
Thanks for all of the nice comments everyone! To answer your questions: Akum6n, Barusazu arrived with his chest pushed in--since the shipping box was not damaged and all the other toys were packed very carefully, I think the seller gave me a damaged toy. He's listing another Barusazu, using the SAME photos posted in my auction, and the toy in the photo doesn't have any damage. Auction purchases are difficult, in that it's hard to truly judge the actual condition of the item. What was especially disappointing, was that this toy went to a kind soul as a gift. Fortunately, I supplemented the gift with new toys as well . RedYoda, I'll take some top-head shots of the Barusazus and post them here--I think the purple sculpt is the prettiest, he has reds and yellows. Hubby stole the good camera, and he's away on a trip right now. There is quite a texture difference between the head tops of the adults vs. the parababies. You could use the adults to tenderize your steak before hitting the grill ...And, I'm EXTREMELY jealous of your vintage 1966 Marusan Godzilla! That is one sweet toy! Joe, thank you for sharing those great toy pics! The lighting in Stonestown was pretty good, and I like that mass-assemblage-look of toys plunked down all over that table It was really fun having a toy meet, and a HUGE THANK YOU for the Uglydoll Crew Jacket, I'm still floating on Cloud 9! Mark K, thank you for letting me continually pester you about vintage toys, I am grateful for your kindness in sharing your vast knowledge of vintage vinyl. I couldn't have acquired Barom, the little red dino, Stegosaurus, and especially the beautiful Bullmark Gamas, without you! As you know, I almost tried for a Gamas without his legs--I thought he was a finger puppet! Thanks for setting me straight on that one! ElvisFromHell, I am blushing with embarassment, Giragindo is indeed a Bear Model! Thank you for the correction! LiquidSky, I wouldn't have known about Banderu Parababies if it wasn't for our toy encyclopedia (aka. Akum6n) Crab Rangoon, the vintage figures have that typical musty odor that most collector's prize, and none of the toys smelled of smoke. I'm a bit of an obsessive clean freak, so I always give auction toys a light wash using liquid dishwashing soap and a soft rag. Most of the time there is a little surface grunge/dirt, and after a careful wash, the colors shine through nicely and look even better. After their initial wash, I only dust my toys for maintenance. Jay, it was a LONG wait, but well worth it! Thanks again everyone for sharing your nice comments. I'm really happy with all of my new toys! I'll post a few more detailed photos soon (when Hubby gets back in two weeks with the camera!)
