I don't know anything about these heads, but based on the posts I'm thinking you (Sanjeev) might need to trim the opening of the secondary MG head. What I'm picturing is that both MG heads can be put onto the body if the robot head isn't installed - that they both have a flange. So in order to use the robot head in conjunction with one of the MG heads you need to trim the flange off so the MG head is more of a helmet that goes over the robot head.
But like I said - I've never seen pictures of this...

No, the head that comes with the set is already trimmed.

I'm thinking that maybe on the GID version, the vinyl is thicker. That would make the inside diameter of the head opening smaller.

*edit* You can see pics here on CT:

I just followed Alex's instructions and it worked. I definitely needed the hairdryer for the assist (don't own one, I shave my head but my g/f does thankfully). I think I'm going to leave the double head version together. Saves shelf space for a tiny mini.

Post Re: Mechagodzilla Question
Hehe...like a fucking chooch, now I get around to uploading the pics. And this is after I busted out the blow dryer and got my new head bits to work!

So, a recap: I was perplexed because, again, the base of the robot head was almost as wide as the outside of the MG head. Therefore, because of the thickness of the material used in the MG head, there would be a lot of interference with the base. You couldn't just *pop* the head on--the bottom of the MG head would just bang into the top of the robot head's base.

The best I could manage was resting the MG head *on top of* the damn base of the robot head.

Image

Needless to say, I was getting a little heated. But ironically enough, it was the MG head that needed to get a little heated! I zapped the fucker, and elbow-greased it onto the base...then let it cool. Now, even though these parts are an afterthought, they at least work more or less as intended!

Image
Image

(Yes, I need to clip my nails.) Technically, however, the original problem is still there. That base of the robot head IS still too wide. So, even though with heating, you can man-handle the MG head on, there's a bit of a bulge you can see at certain angles:

Image

Well, the Marmit Parababy was designed from the ground up with this feature, so it works way better out of the bag. But, hey, at least the M1 (or, rather, the original Bullmark mold) is standard size!

In the end, though, they get along...

Post Re: Mechagodzilla Question
Seeing as how Lixx just brought up this discussion again [and I don't want to keep spamming Ralph's poor sales thread], I find that really interesting. The regular version comes with the robot head already attached, as opposed to the normal one. And furthermore, the outer head was already 'seated' on it inside the bag, with the extra normal head being the loose one. As such, I guess it was pre-stretched out enough. On mine, you can change the head (snap it past the lip) without that much difficulty, but it is tight. I generally use a hair dryer anyways when trying to move/remove tight joints anyhow though.

So since the glowy pair were available through Mandarake as an exclusive, did anyone figure out why some had the extra head packs and some did not? I have seen a few MIB ones for sale, and they did have the heads, but they came as separate items. I wonder if it was something that might have been released with the first certain number of two packs, or maybe something they decided to do later, either because they didn't have them ready in time, or just as an extra bonus release.

I remember laughing at Sanjeev using "Chooch"! Something I don't hear often till I visit the east coast! ; ) This thread is gold, thanks for digging it up Chris!

Well, I took a pic of the packet with a note that came inside it from M1.
Maybe someone can shed some light and translate it?

Not to derail the thread or anything but can someone explain to me why the m1 mandarake glow version comes with an 2 heads? It doesn't make sense to me. It's been forever since I saw mechagodzilla, does it have something to do with the movie?
Still wondering?

Skip to 3m43s in on this annoyingly soundtracked reel...

...if you're still wondering what the deal is with the robohead fun set.

It sounds like the heads were supposed to be included with the figures, but were delayed and sent later.
