Star Trek Exhibit @ San Jose Tech Museum
This looks fucking awesome. http://www.thetech.org/StarTrek/Quote: Transport into parallel universes of the past and future! Connect with iconic Star Trek moments and characters and celebrate the creative spirit of science fiction that gave rise to many of today's modern marvels.
This exhibition will be spread across more than 15,000-square-feet and features all five television series and eleven films that span over 40 years.
STAR TREK®: THE EXHIBITION features over 200 artifacts including:
* An authentic replica of the bridge from the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701 as featured in the original Star Trek television series * Iconic gadgets from the Star Trek universe: a tricorder; a phaser, and a communicator - all from the original series. Devices that have inspired innovators of today. * The actual shooting model for the Borg Cube, that impending vision of doom as seen on Star Trek: the Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine and in the movie Star Trek: First Contact * A chance to ride through a Star Trek adventure in a full-motion flight simulator (extra fee) * And lots, lots more!

Whoa! Thanks for sharing this. Hubby is going to love it! Don't you just want to sneak onto the Bridge and stick all of your cute toys on the seats? Looks like fun! Now, can someone recommend some yummy restaurants in the vicinity?

Re: Star Trek Exhibit @ San Jose Tech Museum
$25 AND no pics allowed...double boo! If I'm going to be on the OS bridge I want to take some pics. A geek exhibit...just don't act like geeks... 1. No masks. 2. Elaborate costuming may inhibit your ability to ride simulators. 3. No weapons. Phasers, shields or any other accessory that may be perceived as a safety concern in any galaxy by any species is prohibited and must be left in your space shuttles.

Show up dressed in TNG or later uniforms and pretend you went back in time to do something important on the bridge.
Or better yet, dress up as Confederate soldiers or Renaissance Faire gear and then walk around saying "Something's happened... Where are we?" And then challenge anyone dressed in Trek gear to battle.

Oh well it's good that these populist shows get people into museums, but it's a little odd that the prices for such traveling corporate shows are so high during a severe recession, especially those that appeal to families. I'm not a scofflaw by nature but I say take all the photos you want. Don't upload them to the 'net and call attention to them, but puh-leeze. It's not like this is classical art that might be damaged by flash photography.

Re: Star Trek Exhibit @ San Jose Tech Museum
This is the night before Joel's show. If I arrange for a van would any of you be up for going as a group? Maybe we can drag Joel along with us. Let me know.
