 Oh golly, it's the STATE FAIR! Oh boy! So a buddy and I decided to carpool and go shoot photos at the fair. We figured it would take our minds off being misanthropic, broke, elderly college students. What could go wrong? I'd be able to forget about:  dinos  customs and...  buta no hana Well, I'm glad that worked. Back to school, refreshed and invigorated! What's going on at your state fair? Can you buy food on a stick?

I've never been to the California state fair, although while growing up I always enjoyed the San Mateo County fair, which is fairly large and to this day has a surprisingly rustic element. Lots of livestock and folk craft competitions. Quilts, jams, cakes, gardening and all that. My best memories of it were of the dangerously claptrap rides on the midway along with the corny "watch a woman turn into a gorilla" and scary-ass freak shows. Not sure if they still have those in today's more PC Bay Area climate. I'm kicking myself in the rear for not going this year.
Really enjoyed your photos. Dinsoaur World looks awesome, as does that spectacular swing ride in the background of that photo.

deep fried cheeseburger (despite being vegetarian!)
deep fried moon pie
deep fried coke
deep fried mac and cheese
deep fried milky way
state fair is my time to get FAT
