I know what this could mean for people outside the US (assessment of custom taxes) but what does this mean for someone in the US because I've never seen this message before on EMS tracking ever (usually it just says arrival at inward office of exchange):

"Awaiting presentation to customs commissioner"

Does this mean a US customs agent @ JFK is going to open my box up for a routine search? Funny I wonder what he or she will make of a foot tall X PLus Matango ...

I think I got that message once and it held up my package for about a week extra in customs...but I got it...and it didn't even appear that they opened it (?). Hopefully you'll get yours faster.

I have seen that a bunch of times. I don't recall it delaying things either...

I think it is just standard language. Nothing to worry about.

I believe they choose packages at random to inspect.

I had that message pop up for my Elegab package that showed up today (and have seen it on my last 3 or so EMS deliveries from Japan). No delays, package was unopened.
