Can't you just feel the YJA prices swelling as we speak? Sarcasm aside, hype is created by all of us whether directly or indirectly. It's not like you haven't bid on YJA and in turn influenced on how much the value of that toy is. That said, I don't think I ever paid 60-75K yen for an RxH either or a 100K for a GID Maza or a 2 headed Bemon... Right now I don't know if the creator is a him, her, "they", it, or even you for that matter. It is a toy forum no? Why do we come here? Can we still talk about the toy or do we have to shut up since it might affect how much you have to spend in the end for this? If my innocent question does influence the price big time, then its better off if this forum discussions be only on Super7 releases. That said, any more info on future releases and more background to this figure?

Re: Got paranoia?
Please keep the beatings coming! LOL ! If you were sensing any hint of self-righteousness from me, you were dead wrong. Buy what you like, pay what you like...... The bottomline is that the seemingly contrived nature of this release is what I am not sure about.
But it is kind of a interesting character....but I hardly believe that "they" will reveal themselves anytime soon.

Re: Got paranoia?
The only thing I got from that old thread was just how much RxH has changed price wise on the secondary market. In 2-3 years the prices on the secondary market has changed so drastically its hard to comprehend. Has any other toy brand .... ever ..... started out almost not selling any figures to selling figures on secondary market for 1K and over back to selling for below cost all in 2 years ?
How does something like this happen ?

Re: Got paranoia?
Secret Base set the first boom and bust pattern, followed by RxH. Then it spread all over the place. But yeah, RxH probably takes the cake for the most extreme cycle.
I think it happens for reasons people don't want to talk about - hype, competition, pattern collecting etc. The fact that so few people have any interest in this stuff probably contributes to the volatility. The boom/bust cycle has been really violent over the last year.
Not sure if there's any solution. It's a messy/complicated situation.

How does something like this happen ? Its definitely this board. Cause: Prices for RxH was strong second market US rise in customer base, because of the hype Chance for Mori to provide the demand Store opening More releases with Mini Regular releases - many new colors fans did not like as much Effect: Buying plateau = Hype deflates Too many mini releases Collectors big sell out Same toys reappearing in sales threads Selling became harder, cut in price. Wanting the next new toy, sel sell sell, cut cut cut Recession - finalé And I think RFSO under rides this as prices kept going down, no after market value leading to rxh meltdown To me though - RHND

How does something like this happen ? @BD: Good times indeed. Great to meet you in Chi-town. Rich, per your comments...what's most interesting is that it seems that releases since June/July 2007 seem to be the most common to be flushed these days. Any RxH from like...2005 to end of 2006ish is still wedged in most collectors hands, and doesn't really make it up for sale publicly....rare pieces going quietly between collectors only, etc. That being said, anybody got an OG PopSoda Chaos that they want to get rid of ?!?!?

I think some of Mori's best work has been from 2007 on (but that's just me). When it was the somewhat elusive cool new toy, everyone was all about it because ppl who had them felt pretty awesome and ppl who didn't went crazy. So then some pieces come around and you jump in just to find out that everyone can get what you have (for half price), so you lose interest and start collecting Anraku and Zollmen. the older stuff still holds its value somewhat so I think ppl tend to keep them longer. Me, I paid way too much for some of them just to sell at a fraction of the cost today so I'm kind of stuck with mine.

Re: Got paranoia?
Beginning in late 2007-8, too many weak sculpts that never really gained traction. And people buying stuff to impress board members, but, at the end of the day, not really into it.

The release sizes were probably larger as well. Both of those factors helped kill the secondary market.

Re: Got paranoia?
I may be wrong, but from my recollection pics of Pogues collection and talk of the S7 Mook feature, and it's potential impact on RxH prices kinda set the ball rolling . . . then with too many minis, too many new sculpts and the economy in the crapper, interest and prices took a dive.
The Secret Base downturn was more down to QC and lame ass colourways . . . just wondering if this may be part of the reason Hiddy is so keen to diversify and market Skulls, clothing keychains and all the other (non fight figure) crap that they now deal in rather than having all his eggs in one basket!
Still not giving a rats ass about the sculpt this thread was started to hype!

Re: Got paranoia?
Its all supply and demand isn't it. The makers made some, they sold out. So they made more to sell more. They've been selling it at roughly the same price all this time. Its the after-market that decides the price after that. I remember common used toy were sold at a third of its price or less.
I guess barring any scandal or fraud if a toy is well designed, its demand and value will remain high.
