I've had a scary moment when surfing at a local beach (Manly, Sydney) and a whale rose up to the surface around 50m from where I was waiting to catch a wave. We were all told to get out of the water because the migrating whale had a calf.

Whatever you are supposed to do, turning and seeing that shark behind me would scare the shit out of me. I get chills just looking at that pic. Even if the shark was just curious, it would freak me out.

Problem with that is the eyes are on the side of the head past the massive jaws hehe. I wouldn't be adventuring my hands out like that

Wait punching it in the nose like Laura Croft doesn't work? Actually don't they have a lot of sensory glands there? How about the gills? Ripping into those might work. Then again I hear shark skin is like sandpaper.

that doesnt look like a great white to me but im no expert either. id definitely go for the eyes of any animal attacking me if possible, next best bet id imagine like stated would be punching in the nose. i have heard a few accounts where it helped get the sharks off victims. i know it hurts like hell if you get hit (chopped) above yer lip and under yer nose.

In a worst case scenario stick your fingers back up its throat for the regurgitation.

I think it depends on the shark. Some have that protective eye covering and when they bite their eyes look like their are rolling back white.

regardless if that's a Great White or not, it's definitely a big shark that could snap that kayak in half. I would be freakin out.

I thought that "shark" looked iffy. Dorsal fin is all wrong.

I used to surf at Bolinas and would get the shit scared outta me when sea lions popped up. They are huge and I think alot meaner than a great white. Also knowing I was swimming with the food didn't help sometimes. I never actually saw a shark but you know they are there somewhere.

This one always freaked me out...

That happened to me once, but it was a hammerhead. I was still out of the water in about 2 seconds though.
