Are you frowning at the response? Screw that person, I don't care who they are or where they're from. It's not like he stripped the paint of off some super rare version and just heavily slammed it with some crap color combo and dry brush work.

I think it's really pretty good, not too heavy handed, nice and subtle. ALSO there seems to be a GAJILLION of these, so it's not like there's some shortage and people are screwing around with something "rare."

I bet $1 a GAJILLION < 30

I deleted the guy who's comments were in English bc/ his email addy was fuckyou@yahoo.com, and real people I know look at my site on occasion. The Japanese comment basically translates to 'Why'd you ruin this toy?' So fuck him too, but whatever. I had a response to the Feldmen guy... if he'd had an actual criticism or something to add, I'd have been willing to discuss it, but his comment started with 'Yuck' So why would I listen to him? I'd like to know who Feldmen is if he's a 'Brainer...

BloodDrinker also makes the same point I did earlier... there's been PLENTY of these for sale on 'teh market' for reasonable prices.

EDIT: Someone else told me the Japanese comment translated to being from Garimpo as well... interesting. EDIT2: I'm happy with how it came out, and most people I've showed it to have liked it... the bit draw of the figure is the movable eye, so I think at the very least it's a tragedy to not have that painted. The Zudon is an excellent TOY that is alot of fun to play with, and the sculpt has alot of life to it... the Pearl vinyl is really cool, but I think blanks can always be improved with at least a little work... I wouldn't paint an RxH proto or special unpainted release of like, 5, but as has been said, there're plenty of pearl Zudons out there.

Less than 30, I guess maybe I don't have the "inside info" but I'm just basing it on there being so many around for so cheap. How about "enough to go around." I know it's hype is finally dying, which is good, so perhaps it's all just skewed observation.

I just found it off setting. Mori has his opinions on customs but never goes face to face with people and says things like "why'd you ruin my toy!?!" I don't even like customs most of the time, and totally understand WHY a lot of people don't like them, the makers in particular.

Is "Garimpo" going around e-mailing all of the people who are desperately trying to flip these toys too?

I just can't see a Japan shop owner taking personal time to cut down someone for customizing a toy that originated from their store. Sorry, but I've got to assume that it is some smartass that knows Japanese.

Prometheum, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (zudon pun intended). Who cares if you painted a pretty common blank, of which I'm sure 90% will stay that way anyhow. Personally I don't care for unpainted toys, and I think you did a good job. I don't even like customs really. Besides you bought it, you can do whatever you want with it. It's not like it's an "uber rare only 5 made" toy that you stripped and repainted. No harm no foul...

I came across the link and thought that a response, authentic or not, coming from the toys creator to be pretty humorous. The conversation around customs, the practice of painting toys in general, and what's right or wrong has been, and will continue to be a hot topic here. I too am a believer that the owner of a toy can do what they choose with it. And, as has been stated already, whether the outcome is good or bad is in the eye of the beholder.
