we've had our time to hoard his work... now let him share it with the world!

... also, people can console themselves all they want... his website releases have been snapped up almost instantly for awhile now. you'd have a hard time whether or not it was on vp

Post Re: Le Merde today 9/23
Okay, just to clear the air, I did my research first so now I can write this, I checked with a few of my Portland "insiders", and there wasn't a "press release". Mike put up his blog post late last nite (PST), and the VinylPulse dood (whoever you are) scooped it up and went buck wild. Bottom line, believe it or not I know quite a few folks--even non-SB'ers--that are "hardcore" yet don't have the time, resources, or knowledge (yep) to constantly go to every artists' blog/website. I suppose I was just trying to "look out" for other Board members, mildly, before he was cyber-gang-banged (as I was in the past). If there is any take-away from this? If everything is fair game, peeps (especially the seasoned vets) keep consistent with the "unspoken rules" or not, and let's reduce this hazing, or resource protection, or whatever it is. Thanks.
peace,

Well isn't that what sites like Vinyl Pulse are trying to do? To amass the information in one easy to follow site?

I would ask Mike what he thinks of sites promoting his sales. If he doesn't like it than I'm sure he can tell them to stop posting his info.

Maybe I'm thinking about what's best for the artist in this case and not the individual collector. I might be in the minority here but I can live with it. :)

i was kind of pissed off at the vinyl pulse thing, but i was online at 258 eastern time, just kept refreshing, and watched them all go up one by one. i dont have any money for them now, but they looked awesome. everyone had an equal opporutnity, its just a matter of who was able to sit at a computer. thats usually the case with everything, unless its a lottery.

I prefer the e-mail list notification only, it's worked fine in the past and it's not like they aren't going to sell.

Feel free to post link from toy blogs, especially if the are English language toy blogs. Complaining about a link to VP is pathetic. The self entitlement of some collectors is getting old. This kinda crap keep artist from wanting to post on SB.

It is not like Mike doesn't have lots of art shows every year. His work is fairly available and still affordable so pick your battles; be happy when you win and shut the fuck up when you don't. There is always more stuff you spend your money on.

Anyway you all should have been smart and started hoarding Le Merde figures back in Aug of 2007 like I did. You should see my closet full of duplicates it is like a resin warehouse.

I can see both sides of this but If the artist posted this on his blog, which is open for the public to read, and becomes news on places like vp, then it's fair game. Animator was just sharing what was already made public by the artist. I mean hell, like it or not, VP seems to have become the CNN of all things vinyl...errr...and resin.

Those minis were cool as hell! I say good for Mike! I would have liked to pick one up as well, but that is pretty bad ass for a rad guy who works out of his basement and can sell out a run like that in one day. As the name implies, Mike is the shit!

On that note, Mike you better hire some oopa-loompas to start bustin ass and make more toys! :D

I was wondering what the price range was, but by the time I checked it out they were all gone.
I haven't purchased a toy in almost a year and I had fun money in my paypal to blow.
Instead a pre-ordered the new Immortal Lp!

I'll take some of those pesky early Le Merdes off your hands Glenn, I'm sure they're getting in the way, especially a Pony Falcon Or Hollis, those guys suck.

Congratulations are in order folks...
Knockout pieces Mike, continued success and we're all looking forward to watching your body of work continue to grow.

As for myself, I purposely sat this one out.
It's been an expensive year.

With that being said, maybe I'll be lucky to snag one of the unpainted proto's somewhere down the line.
Congrats to those who scored a figure.

sorry for to bring any negativity here. i was just pretty shocked to see that on VP and the fact that i didn't get lucky made me a bitter, pissed off collector.. 'grats to everyone that got something
