While there is probably room for disagreement on the overall aesthetic of the new figure, SB had to strike a balance between emulating the vintage toy and retaining their signature fight body. The body suits it as the OG had a smooth body (kinky) and detailed head. Plus, the SB body is a classic, if anything you could take off the ribs and have a simplified skull on the chest, but it would still be pretty simple. It makes sense for this little tribute to be the same. Although the detailed head vs not deatailed body is why I can't get into Skullwings.
