Post Re: Trick R Treat
Just saw the trailer for this while watching the newest Friday the 13th remake ( which sucks) I've now joined the "very long wait " crowd. Hopefully it'll get here before Halloween.

Watched it last night and loved it!

I wish we could see more horror films like this instead of the flood of pointless remakes.

I also would recommend Night of the Demons... it's a remake, but I thought it was a pretty good companion to Trick r Treat.
Another 80's style fun horror thing.
Dunno if it's out yet though.

Just got my blu ray trick r treat in the mail. Excellent quality from Amazon! I'm ready for Halloween. I'm gonna get Drag me to Hell as a companion movie for the evening.

Don't shit on it cuz it's a remake, it's very very different.
Actually in some ways... better...
Same basic plot, kind of, a few crucial scenes as homages but the rest is quite different.

That's all I'll say about it, it's worth the rental.

(oh and unlike the original, it doesn't have a horribly sexist guy in it)

Thanks Kevlo9, Count, and Backtrack. I'll watch the original tonight and keep a eye out for the remake.

I think we might need to start a Halloween movie recommendation thread.

TrT has been stuck on a shelf since like 07 while WB figured out what to do with it.
After seeing it, and knowing that, you really start to wonder what the hell goes on in the minds of movie execs.

No shit, it had a big presence pre-Fantastic Fest 07, and then was nowhere to be found once the fest started - ultimately lame. Everyone thought that they'd screen it LAST YEAR as a make up for it, and it didn't come about until this year  needless to say, due to it's release being so soon after the screening, I didn't catch it on the big screen.

Have you watched House of the Devil?

Yeah, I really liked it, it's a sleeper though. The ending is a bit of a let down, but it's spot on otherwise and great to see something like it come out in the current climate.
It's the kind of film you watch with your missus, curled up during a storm on a lazy friday night. Not a party film, think Polanski.

Wow just finished watching it and LOVED it, such a great Halloween movie. And if you decide to buy get the blu ray for the specials, some GREAT cut footage that really should have been left in the film. The dvd version doesn't have these.

then why don't they just call it "night of the demons 4"?!
sorry, but this pisses me off.
i've gotten over (kind of) remakes.
but what really irritates me for some reason is this whole dropping of the number system thing with new films from a specific franchise.
like the 2008 rambo film isn't actually a remake. it's rambo 4. the foreign distributions got it right, but for some reason the u.s. market is afraid to release it as part 4.
the new friday the 13th (which can easily have any given title because it could actually be percieved as a film about a crop grower protecting his weed) doesn't feel like a remake outside of it's sequelless title. i am guessing sequels don't bring in as many theater goers as part 1's do, but every one (or everyone should) know these titles have existed in the past, so fuck all this hiding behind a inconsecutive title.

at least stuff like "return to sleepaway camp" and "halloween: resurrection" weren't entirely annoying....
