Post Which Figures did Mori Paint?
So I'm assuming between Scott, Data and a few others this shouldn't be TOO hard to find out.

Which figures did Mori paint?

Just morbid curiosity, I know he's done a few, mainly earlier, but I just think it's interesting. Even if there's no way to get a "complete" list, just to know any would be cool. If this thread is already out there, pardon my laziness.

Can't wait to see which "old style" figures make the cut!

Please let their be a clear purple spray mutant evil, or dark green with red spray evil!

Please oh Please!

I agree, sounds cool.

I only wanted to know to be able to compare and contrast, just for fun. I've been staring at a few figures of mine (rxh and others) and just have really been absorbed in the painting lately. It's like I'm rediscovering them all over again. Not that I didn't before, but it's like a ghost coming back as of late. Greatest things about some of these guys, they never die.

I'm familiar with the other names in this thread, but this is the first time I've come across the name Shinto Gangu. Only reference I could find is the Shinto Gangu After School Club which appears to be an event, not usually associated with a family. (Although on SB, anything is possible.)

Would someone please tell me who or what it is?

Thanks.

Shin (真)meaning Real or True
To (頭) meaning Head
Gangu (玩具) which is the traditional Japanese word for Toy.

Most of the fortune cats have either a single Shin character or the 2 characters for Shinto on them.

This shouldn't be conflated with Shinto (神道 Shintō) which is the natural spirituality of Japan and the Japanese people.

Upper hand logo reads Real as in "truth, reality, genuineness", this is the "Shin" (真) in Shinto Gangu.(真頭 玩具)first knuckle is also "Shin" (真),second knuckle is "To"(頭) (pronounced like your big "toe") Japanese for "head", third & fourth knuckles are "Gangu" (玩具) the old Japanese word for toy.

The characters for "Gangu" are also the same as "omocha."

Curious as to why they are read "gangu" most often in company names, whereas "omocha" is generally used to refer to the toy item. Is this just an alternate reading? Anyone know?

Hot hand tattoo! I thought I saw a glimpse of it in one of your other pics.

Too bad the "young masters" cost more, the masks just aren't as good. I mean, I know it's cliche' to say, and I like SOME of them, but that freehand spray will always be the best. Along with the sculpts it's what makes these.

ANYWAY, So which figures? I KNOW I don't own any, but any that someone might know for sure would be cool.

Information such as this, and the other posts, is golden. I enjoy the toys in themselves, but the references and backstories add another dimension, especially when presenting or displaying the figures.

Equally fascinating in this case is the tattoo itself. Is it common in Japan to tattoo the name of a store, company or product on your body? Or is this person simply just one major hardcore devoted fan or artist associated with Shinto Gangu?

That's not a Japanese guy's hand. It is SB's youngest member living in SoCal.

Wow I am totally the opposite on this one. I really am concerned about the underlying reason to do this. I can only see it to promote the Super 7 store and not really thinking of the big picture.

Will it be an exact copy of the past figures? If not, what is the plan? If so, is this the final chapter of RxH once these rare releases get cloned? I think I will be the first to completely stop collecting RxH if this happens. This is just my very personal opinion so don't get offended. I just don't want to have to go through the frustrations as I have with Rumble Monsters, since the same thing happened to them.

On another note, and is a real issue here...how do you determine who gets a chance to own this small handful of figures and collectors, especially with many hardcore RxH collectors who are not only in the US? I am talking about JP, TW, HK, UK, etc. Tough luck?

if cloning/reissuing is what you mean
Then I am asking from a very concerned fan of RxH who not only spent loads of my money on rare figures...but are one of the less powerful voices of the hardcore RxH collectors...which means I don't have any influence/decision making or a chance to talk to Mori (or from any other collector for that matter) about how detrimental this type of decision is. Short term promotion for S7...or killing off a reputable brand to loyal collectors of "vintage" RxH.

Scott please explain more.

I assumed this meant new figures in the old style... I can't imagine they'd do 'reissues'...

If its old style spray but new colors then that is a good thing.

These toys will be all new.

My reasoning:

Periodically, there are certain amazing releases from Real Head that Mori produces as a thank you to his customers (like the glow Mutant Chaos with blue rub). For reasons I explained before, these releases are few and far between and rarely make their way out of Aoto. I am trying to change this. I sold many of prized Real Head figures to help fund the first 3 runs in this series. My goal is to use all revenue from each sale to fund another sale somewhere down the line. In the end, my hope is to produce more amazing toys for my personal collection while helping to rejuvenate the brand for long time collectors like myself.

Awesome ! The Robin Hood of Kaiju !!!!!!

As long as it means cool toys, "REJUVENATE" AWAY !

Sorry about any confusion here. I made the assumption that Scott was in the process of getting Mori interested in the idea of producing old style not reissued figures. Less masks more sprays.
