 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
I have never heard of any pirated games or modded PS3s. I think that's an XBox problem.

Ah, well I'm sure someone's working on it as well as getting around Microsoft's banning.

I had the day off and refused to let that stop me from playing! so I beat the single player, which actually was quite awesome! As soon as they came back online i was on there again though...hahaha

I'm glad a million players got banned and I hope a million more are caught. I must admit, i tend to agree with this. I'm not a fan of pirate games. As a collector of vinyl(records), i've never been into the whole downloading music for free thing. It seems to me if you really like an artist or band, why would you not want to support said artist/band, by buying their music. I have a couple of mates who have just been banned because of this. They held their hands up and laughed because they knew the game was up, they'd had a good run at it and played a lot of games for nada. I would'nt be against modding if it was for more than just playing pirate games, like if someone had figured out how to run pc games on it or run some kind of windows(people may have done this already, actually)......now that would be cool. I've got to wait for modern warfare 2 as it's on the christmas list, but i'm really looking forward to it.

Is the online experience the same whether you are on 360 or PS3? Or is one better over the other?

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
All digital media is always going to be bootlegged and the industries behind them will be hit by it. It's the way things are, the bannings are a nice sting and all, but a way around them will be found. It always happens. It's usually not people who just can't afford games doing it either, it's spoiled kids or people with plenty of cash to buy the games but they don't.
All the game companies can do is offer real incentives to BUY the games. 1- Free demos for sure, give people a taste. 2- Keep prices down as much as possible, I know it's hard when people are stealing but the profits on CODMWII are pretty huge, I doubt any modders feel bad. BUT they don't think of the little guys in the companies getting screwed by this, as Bert pointed out. 3- Do what they're doing now, make online play more important, keep bannings up to make it tougher, offer downloads for legit copies etc.
It's a tough world in the land of digital media. People are tired of what was happening for years, paying money blindly for an album or movie or game just to find out it sucks. The attitude in a lot of people is "they owe me for years of taking my money for crap!" Remember when CD's were $15-$20!?!?! That was nearly 150% profit for the store BTW, insane!
I'm not validating anyone stealing, it is wrong because the people behind all of it will stop making it and than there won't be anything. But the issue is changing the mindset fo the people who do this, and that's pretty impossible.

If you read ealier in the thread it's stated that the PS3 servers were down for an entire day?! I've been on XBOX LIVE for a few years and have not had any problems with anything...except their stupid point system.

I've been on XBOX LIVE for a few years and have not had any problems with anything...except their stupid point system. I would take the opposite view. Having played on both sytems, I prefer the PS3 online system. The PS3 online play is free, XBox Live has a monthly fee. The servers were down for a few hours on the second day after the COD MW2 release. The servers were only down for the one game, it was still possible to play other games online. I think the game developers are responsible for handling the online play for their games, so it's not like the whole network goes down. Plus, did I mention PS3 online play is free?

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
"Monthly Fee" cmoooooon, it's $50 for 1 year, about $4 a day. What's the price difference in the 2 systems now? Not bashing PS3, but any game available for it I'd like is available for 360, but not the other way around.
I've had no problems with XBox Live and I can watch Netflix on it. PS Network might be cool too, though, I don't know.

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
i think xbox has a better online system as of now. i have played both, and the xbox seems to be more reliable. my friend has a ps3, and we have noticed random times where it is down for maintenance or updates. it happens with xbox but only when they are adding new shit (like netflix and such)
if sony stepped up their game, they would be able to compete (and probably blow away) wii and xbox. but when you are competing with all of the xbox live games out there and all the old nintendo games people can download, it makes it hard to justify purchasing the PS3 when i already have an xbox.
and yeah. it's $49 a year for the 12 month XBL gold subscription. that's worth it for me to have access to the game demos and such.

The PS3s are about $280-$300 and the Xbox is $200-$300. So, add in a couple of years of online fees and we're talking about the same price. You can get Netflix and demos, downloadable games, etc. on the PS network too. It's also my Blu Ray DVD player.

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
The Wifi adapter for the 360 cost me an extra $100 bucks and for the $200 system you do not get a HD, so the price is in the ps3's favor. I'm just bitter towards the 360 because I went through 4 of them in a 3 month period where every replacement system they sent me red ringed a week or so later.
Having owned both I see little difference in online except that inviting friends easily and having headsets included is a plus for 360.

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
So far, my favorite feature of the new COD MW is the ability to have a shotgun as a secondary weapon.
I usually like to equip an assault rifle or a light machine gun for outdoors and a shotgun for all my indoor room sweeping needs. I refuse to snipe.
Lately I like the ACR for a rifle, the AUG HBAR for a light machine gun and a Striker or AA12 for a shotgun.

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
RPD with FMJ and Grip all day long. Find it hard to use anything else, this is what I used in COD4 most of the time and the G3 isnt around any more. Occasionally use a M4A1 with red dot and silencer. Killstreaks are Crate drop, Harrier Strike, and Pave Low...the Pave Low is badass.

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
Domination is awesome. ground war is definitely my favorite. I get to spend time playing with my younger brothers. Those two are insanely better than me when it comes FPS. Maddie likes to play the stealth missions on special ops with me. She gets too disoriented with the firefights. XD

 Re: COD: Modern Warfare 2
I have both systems and the 360 is definitely a better system for online play. PS3 is nothing but lag for days. It's a great system for single player non multiplayer games though.
I love this game! Today I was trying my hardest to get the 25 kill streak nuke. I got a 17 streak but some camping turd sniped me. Is it me or is free for all nothing but a camp fest in this game?
