Post Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Anyone else play last night? I thought I saw a few SBers. A few notes:
-Scavenger mode RULES! So fast and crazy. I think I'll be playing that most when I'm done running through the campaigns.
- Was I the only one who noticed a LOT of lag? I have a pretty good connection, maybe it was who I was playing with (I played with a friend) but wanted to know if it was just me.
- New weapons are awesome, I like the grenade launhcer a lot myself.
-The Charger is crazy!
- Seems to have a LOT more replay value out of the box than L4D.

Anyway, overall I'm gonna be on this thing a lot with my small amount of free time. It ticks me off when I read complaints about no story, I think that's the point though. In zombie movies it's not important WHY but rather how strangers meet and survive. Also to anyone who things this is just a hack and slash no strategy game, you're nuts. It's ALL team work and strategy, no room for hot-shots running alone.

I was playing yesterday during the day mostly, I did notice quite a bit of lag, hopefully they will address that with a patch.
Playing the new infected classes is really fun. I think my favorite new infected is the Charger, he can really mess up even the sharpest team's best laid out plans.

I started reading a bit about the lag, it's happening to everyone so I assume it's a top priority to patch up, hope soon.

The Charger is so great, especially if you can aim for a nice LONG path, just run with them. The Jockey creeps me out something serious though.

I love the battle shotgun too, and the laser scopes, and the explosive ammo, and the longer levels, and the ninja sword, and the......well I can just keep going. I think the best thing they did was add a lot of options to mix things up. A whole new level but with the same basic idea.

Chainsaw rocks... although all teammates should stand far away from me when I start because I go completely ape shit with that :)

At one point we all just armed ourselves with katanas and axes and started going to work on those zombies. You can barely see anything because your view is covered with zombie blood and guts. Too much fun!

I can't stop playing LFD1 and I think with too much play my 360 overheated for the second time... I got the 3 red light warning... time to get it fixed again... the best part is the online game.

Not as excited for LFD2, looks much the same and not liking the daytime pla. Part of what made it was the darkness and using your torch to see dark areas. Zombies popping out of nowhere etc.

Oh ho ho sir, L4D2 is WAY better! It's not the same, it's the same PLUS WAY MORE! New modes of play, new infected and PLEASE don't let the daylight make you think something's missing, it's almost creepier. You look over a parking lot and see HORDES of these things. Plus there's a lot of inside situations with darkness, a mall, a carnival, SWAMPS! Seriously, don't let ANYTHING keep you from this game if you loved 1. 2 brings everything from L4D and adds a whole lot more. Not trying to sound like some spokesman for it, but it's just that fun.

So, I got L4D2 all installed and ready to rock yesterday morning, and now I can't get Steam to open! Spent all last night troubleshooting it with no success instead of playing.

If I have any of the hand weapons people should stand back, I don't have time to look at what I'm hacking once I go nuts with it. Though I like the sword best, there's something super satisfying about the "clunk" of the bat against these things heads.

I like the grenade launcher a lot too. It's great for the Tank (as long as everyone in the team stays clear) and for hordes, but other wise useless. If I go for it I use a handgun as my secondary. The new options add so much more.

I should be on a little bit tonight (xbox) and hope Sat to get a good few hours in.

I used the chainsaw last night to cut my way from one side of the rollercoaster to the other(to turn off the alarm, through the hoard). It worked like a hot knife through butter, and normally it's a pretty difficult part to get past...
I am still having a difficult time mastering the grenade launcher....the ricochet is a little tricky for me to control....I love that they included it though.

I finall finished 1 campaign (Dead Center) last night. I feel like a baby, half way through we had to turn it over to "easy" partially because 2 of our team mates wouldn't ever heal or talk! WTF?1! St00pid n00bz! However I'm hopelessly addicted to Scavenger mode, I went for hours and didn't even notice.

I've mastered that grenade launcher, that and duel pistols are my main weapon fix. Then battle shotgun and sword.

Dual pistols will always rock and there are so many weapons laying around now the hardest part for me is deciding what to use haha.

Are you guys noticing it's more difficult? Maybe because it's new and we aren't familiar with the level but Advanced is a lot tougher than before.

Dude, it's tougher just on NORMAL! I can't even go above that right now. I think the wide open spaces help that as well as the new special infected and the whole "go run and turn off an alarm while a horde comes non-stop" situations. A lot fo the new scenerios really make it tougher. Plus I think the levels are longer, instead of 5 per campaign it's 4, and than the finale's have a whole new aspect with needed to complete objectives while surviving.

Anyone chainsaw a Witch yet? I've seen others do it, but everytime I try she knocks me down before I can get the job done. Do I have to aim at the head/neck area like "crowning" her?

Got done with 3/5 campaigns, Hard Rain later tonight whenever I get home. Dark Carnival's my favorite so far.

Weird how certain melee weapons are better than guns?!

Anyone still play? I WOULD play more often but have been busy. I still need to finish the Parish. Stupid bridge.

Hahaha, my coworker just sent me that this morning. Too funny :)

I stopped for a while because things got busy at work. I finished all of them on hard, except for the one with the mansion as a finale. Was that "The Swamp"?

Yeah "Swamp Fever" is the Plantation finale. That's pretty cool, I'm lucky to get through them on "normal!"

Nate and I did Dead Center with two AI in a team on Normal and it was a bit frustrating. Really need a four person team to coordinate the last part better.

We want to play more but all our friends and family are too addicted to MW2 and Borderlands right now.

LFD2 is definitely more challenging than it's predecessor. That Jockey is indeed creepy!

PC or X Box? If XBox I'm Death Hugs. If PC a few here roll on that. I ONLY play L4D2 right now, I'm too broke on toys to buy the other 2 games and get hooked yet.

I think it's a lot harder on xbox without a mouse. Aiming and navigating is so much more clunky. I tried playing gears of war 2 on xbox and that game is a bit more linear in direction but I still found it really tough to navigate and shoot. With L4D2 and zombies attacking from all angles I have absolutely no idea how it could be done with a controller :|

I think it depends on what you're used to and that's it. I can NOT play games with a mouse, I grew up on consoles and it's all I can use. I could never make the nerd-shift over to mouse/keyboard. I know I'm in the minority.

As for as HOW to get zombies from all angles, no secrets, since I'm just used to using the controller I move as fast as someone who's used to using a mouse. Just adapted.

Back in the day playing Doom with just a keyboard I used to get owned by all my friends and then Quake came along with mouse implementation and I picked it up quickly. All my friends were stunned...I was able to compete with them. Best combination for a FPS in my opinion. I'll take my Razer Lachesis scanning 4000 dpi @ 1000hz any day of the week!
