Re: Change is here: Freak out
If change actually was here, wouldn't we be in one giant japanese section right now?

Is this a suggestion that Super7 would prefer that collectors go elsewhere to talk about Bounty Hunter, Real Head, etc? Elegab, Shikaruna, Cronic, BxH have all been under the "Japan Toys" section for a long time and have been fine. People whine, love, cheer lead, hate and it's been fine. How would getting rid of the subdivision and adding RxH, Secret Base and Gargamel under the same Japan Toys section affect anything? And why would people have to go to other forums to discuss those toys? That makes no sense to me.

Thanks Bryce. I thought I was the only one who didn't understand that logic.

Re: Change is here: Freak out
Seriously, I don't think it matters to have it all in one thread. I think it comes down to the search engine. For the Japan thread, it will put all brands an equal treatment and hot topics will always be on top.
That said though, without better search functions, it won't be as easy for new collectors coming into the scene to search for brand related threads (or know what there is to search for). Easing into the scene will be harder - its hard enough for newbies in SB already.
Possibly have a search section where each of the threads are tagged to specific brands, so when searching you can tag to fields as a drop down menu. Tagging seems to be the way nowadays but not sure if this forum engine can cater for that. When you create a new thread you need to specify what brand it belongs to so that it can categorize easier in the search engine and be displayed better when you do look for brand sensitive queries.

Imagine all the forums, living life in peace. You may call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Someday we'll go to Monster Island, where the kaiju live as one.

One can easily scroll through and find what is relevant. Yes? No? search.php?keywords=gargamel&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Searchor a bit wider: search.php?keywords=gargamel&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Re: Change is here: Freak out
Maybe? With the sub sections it works well since there is no need to search (for RxH, Garg and SB). Without these sections in the future, just by looking at your search results from your two links search results mainly fall into wanted, trade and show collection threads. I still think with tagging and having a drop down of brand list before posting a new thread would help in the search engine. I am thinking of the same functionalities like Flickr with tagging which is very helpful.

Re: Change is here: Freak out
To be honest we are trying to change it but it is a little more involved than I had hoped. It use to be super easy with phpbb 2.0, now not so much. It will probably happen over the weekend.
