Sorry, but this is in-fact wrong. He was the worst part of the first one, and the least 'true' character by a mile. IM2 is going to be the best movie ever... I am such an Iron Man whore.

Looks fun. I don't think Scarlet Johansen was a good choice for Widow (I don't care if you think she's hot, it still doesn't seem good) she just looks too young. I'd rather have seen someone else, but whatever, maybe she'll sell me. It's like Alba as Sue Storm, it just doesn't work for me.

If you're trying to get at what I assume you're getting at, Stark build the War Machine armor in the comics for his own personal use a while before Rhodes ever donned the suit.

Yeah I assumed that but the casting is too intentional...and it's disappointing type casting.

I kind of agree on this. Black Widow is supposed to be a fairly world-weary yet a bit glamourous secret agent. This version looks like she fell out of some X-Men academy.

Should have gotten Milla Jovovich for this. It's not like she hasn't been in comic/sci-fi movies along these lines before.


Well, Black Panther is cool. But Luke Cage? The whole tagline for that guy is "Hero for Hire." So all other (aka: white) heros do it for truth, justice or even simple vengeance, but this guy is a hero you have to pay to do work... Otherwise, he sits back and does nothing. Bleagh.

Random thoughts about the movie and other responses:
Concerning Heroes for Hire : the other Hero was Iron Fist, a white dude; but they both are in the Avengers now. I can see how he could have been offensive in the 1970's, but the character has changed a lot and he is pretty popular now. I hope once the Avengers get formed they will add these guys, along with Black Panther, and Hawkeye. I realize it would take some doing, but I can dream.

Whiplash is an interesting choice for villain. I guess they wanted to steer clear of armored foes like Crimson Dynamo.

Like the new WM design... much more utilitarian than the prior design, which followed IM's styling more closely. Don Cheadle as WM doesn't feel right to me. What happened to Rhodes' facial hair anyway?

The guy with the whips is Whiplash (see what I did there? ) There's using him as an amalgam of Whiplash the goon from the comics, and the Crimson Dynamo mythos (in order to get that good classic Rooskie flavor in there without using CD, another straight up armored foe, really a smart move). They're even using Vanko as the Whiplash character, the Russian who invented CD, instead of having it be Scarlotti, the basic schlub who was Whiplash. I'm pretty impressed at how they have merged two iconic villains into one complete package, while retaining the flavor of each.

It also pains me to see everyone I FART A LOT about Scarlet as the Black Widow. When she first showed up, Natasha Romanova was a total hottie, and I personally am hoping FOR some 'moose and squirrel' Rooskie accent. The thing to remember about Iron Man is that he was 1oo% developed as the anti-Commie character. While I understand that's not the same issue today as it was back then, it really deserves to be played up quite a bit, in order to avoid losing all that classic Red flavor that much of the IM rouges gallery had.

As for the Mandarin, those were different times, and like I said above, IM was all about fighting the Commies and despots... the Mandarin was a combination of yellow-Red fear, and Genghis Khan domination... he's not a sterotype for sterotype's sake like we'd see today, but really a culmination of what was the relevant fear of the day back when he debuted in the late 60's.

But that's my issue. She seems to only have been cast because people think she's a "hottie." She's not the right type of "hottie" for this. I'm not saying they shouldn't make Widow sexy (she's meant to be) but Johansen is like "college mall girl" not "I've been through hell and back and still hold my head up." Widow is attractive, like most people, because of her attitude and I don't see that in Scarlet when I look at her. She seems too soft/young/American (dare I say it?!) for the role. I mean, seriously, I may be sold when I see it! BUT I'm just saying off the bat, meh.

On Whiplash, seems cool. If this was Batman or some comic franchise I held dear I'd be SUPER ticked they merged villains instead of sticking to source material BUT it's not so I don't care and can say it sounds like a great idea merging them. ALSO I know this series seems to be based more on the "Ultimate" line of Marvel (with Sam Jackson as Fury and all) and they change things up a bit anyway and it fits that worlds flavor, so I'm cool with it too.
