Rutt's hut is located in scenic Clifton N.J. and they feature deep fried hot dogs. a lightly fried dog is called an "in and out", the next is a "splitter", and strictly for the daredevils is the "cremator"(sp?), or a "sinker". My favorite is a cheeseburger "dipped". That's a burger dipped in gravy. Best place ever for "drunk munchies", the extremely high grease content soothes and coats a tender tummy.
At the next Chiller we need to organize an East coast RFSO group trip.

I saw him at a taping of a Patton Oswalt Comedy Central special. I have no idea what he ordered (the Castle is usually the last stop after a long night of hard partying). Plus I was staring at his beard and female companion, both were mezmerizing. Now that I think about it, I also saw him at a diner near my house another time.

That first link is hysterical! They gave the place 5 "grease stains"! That's a vote of confidence for sure!

I've checked that site for info several times, including good grilled cheese places in philly.
both Pott's and Yocco's are on it for hot dogs, on the hot dog page of course

When I read the first post, i immediately thought of seeing Anthrax and hearing ATL live and thinking "Yeah...he really should go."
And then I thought how long ago that show was and I feel old now.
State of Euphoria tour with Exodus and Helloween...a very interesting evening.
I'm going to have to dig out my old anthrax cassettes tonight

well I've seen them at least 3-4 time now, but unfortunately always with John Bush. I don't think they've played Philly since Joey is back and the one night they played in Allentown (about an hour away) my grandmother was in the hospital so of course I didn't go.
anthrax, if you're reading this, please come play philly

I actually grew up a couple of blocks in the Bronx from those Anthrax guys. You would constantly hear them rehearsing in the garage. Charlie and Frankie were always behind the counter of the local deli making me some samiches.

See this kind of stuff does NOT happen in the midwest...my deli sandwiches were made by the local pedophile or else a lady with one glass eye...

Order a couple rippers with the best relish anywhere and a few cheeseburgers with gravy. You will NOT be disappointed. Rutt's is just one of those special places. But then again so is Crif's on St. Mark's Place in NYC. Nothing like a deep fried bacon wrapped hotdog with sliced jalapano.
