It will take time to dig out the recipients of said "experiments gone wrong", however do you notice the lack of uniformity in the photos shown?
It is a far from perfect science.
I strive to make this stuff look as professional as possible.
Rit dye experiments ended for me about 10 years ago when the first tan pleather outfit came into contact with the dyed brown vinyl hands of my custom rocketeer.
I have spent far too much on $100 custom toys that look amazing on the auction, yet look horrible when they arrive.
(much less have that weird dye residue 3 months after the fact)

I remember buying a Custom Glenn Danzig doll on ebay so awful I relisted it within hours and actually turned a decent prifit, despite warning the buyer about it. There are too many ways to make questionable customs look good in photos.
I worry people will use dye co make customs they will sell on ebay.
I still am weeding out every vinyl boot I dyed a strange color, because of the color spreading onto other toys.
Imagine having NO CLUE that this was even done and having a custom dyed toy descimate your vinyl collection?
