Early in the development phase of analogue to digital personality transfers scientists used different types of animals in their experiments. One particularly successful test involved tigers. Ever since little tigers in form of the test subject have been a cute giveaway symbolizing strength and good luck.

Hi all.

It's been a bit since I've posted anything here in the skullbrain. Now I've got a brand spanking new resin toy (miniature sculpture) coming up and here is a first hand look at the first prototype cast. It is about 6.5 cm (2.5") and does not feature articulation but it sports good looks. The first edition will be released on Valentines Day which coincides with the Chinese New Year...

I read this in my brain in Werner Herzog's voice and it made me so happy

Yes, to all of your questions, actually. Hahaha. Seriously though, these are arms. The left arm is "curled" as can be seen in many "lucky cat" sculptures and the right arm is deformed - a result of the countless experiments performed on the poor little tiger cub.

And you are not all too far off with recognizing Transformer-esque legs there since the first experiments in the area of analogue to digital consciousness resulted in a crippled body of the test subjects. The tiger cubs were then mounted on robotic legs in order to find out if their digitized self was able to control implants, prosthetics and other add-ons.

Soon, my friend. I am taking my time with casting in order to ensure best results. Pictures of the final colored version are still a week of, I think. ;)

2.5", you're a stickler for pain.
I've always loved your mish mash of organic and robotic, I'm looking forward to seeing a finished product.

i get the idea and the top half is good, the legs worry me. It might just be a perspective/color issue wherein the angle and the color of the toy make me see it skewed. back shot please.

Thanks for responses. Here are two shots of one of the primed samples. The added color shows the details a lot better.

The release will be on sunday. Pictures of the final color version will be up on thursday or friday. The edition will be seven figures.

Back shot.

It is about 6.5 cm (2.5") big and has been painted with special automotive effects paint that shifts colors depending on the lighting. While the top shimmers in a beautiful golden orange the lower parts of the body range from silver, pink over blue to turquoise. Finished with nice high gloss coat. Comes in a handmade cardboard box that also doubles as a display stand. Edition of 7.

Available now at http://store.danielgoffin.com for 30€ (includes world wide shipping).

Definitely mental looking! The two bigger things are a def' mystery objects to me. One looks like an AA battery to my untrained eye.
I like the back with the eye and the guts looking stuff best.

Thanks, you two. I really appreciate the good words. :D

So, here are two more pictures of the packaging design. The box slides out and doubles as a display stand. The art is printed on a sheet of transparent paper. The black and white drawing is printed on one side while the Japanese characters for "maneki tora" are printed on the reverse side. The paper is removable so it can be flattened and displayed separately.

I honestly can't tell what it's suppose to be. I understand it's a blending of different elements but you should be able to decipher the parts in order to understand it as a whole. I can't tell if that's a fan or a Swiss Army knife or if that's a battery or his junk (not joking here). Using nice paint and nice packaging is great but it still falls under the "can't put lipstick on a pig" category.

I'm afraid I can't really make this one out either. I liked some of your earlier pieces but this one seems a bit undefined, or just trying to do to much for it's size. The head is very confusing- does it have 6 eyes? Are those it's teeth around it's chest or is the lower face part some kind of armour?

I'm happy that you can laught about this.
I know you probably worked hard on this but from afar, it looks
like a weird mish mash. Maybe more modern art than toy.
