Post Re: Introductions
You know, I would be the first one to get into some virtual arse kickin if it warrants it. I could tell this dude the same thing in a thousand different ways that he's doing market research or wtf-ever (of course what else could his motive be right) and still get a couple of chain yankin in without un-necessarily kicking him in the balls. I mean, are we just trying to discourage this type of stuff from happening or are we just being bullies? Some people just can't or wont separate the differences.
I'm not trying to be Jonny Hippy Free Love here, god knows THAT would be WAAAAY un-Skullbrainish of me.

do you bully someone who shoves food in your face by not eating it?

Maybe posting in Custom Toys and Fan Art would have been a better place to start.

I don't hate it, but it just seems like something I would see in a science museum gift shop.
Which would mean, to me, mass produced versus small runs.

Shows more creativity and imagination than painting over someone else's toy.

That's the problem. YOU see it as him shoving food at your face. Did you ever think that maybe others don't see it that way? Or does it even matter?

Well, this is the AMERICAN IDOLS section...so was this designed by an Amercian or is it going to be released by an American company? If not, then wrong section.

Post Re: Introductions
It's also not a custom so unless SB generates a International or "all other countries besides Japan idol" section this is the place to post. But really I think it's all nit picking now. Again I would be the first person to call somebody out on shenanigans but I would be even handed about it. You tend to bust holes in your own house when you use a sledge hammer to take care of a annoying bug (No I don't think you're a bug Unbox). Like what's happening now.

Anyway, back to talking about toys again. Unbox,,to bad that pink part IS a lip cause it really throws off the design. It doesn't look like part of the mouth. I'm very curious about the thin rod like legs. I hope you guys are using some kind material that will allow some flex.

First post pimping something, then the obligatory posts to show contribution to the forum.
Sounds like a great idea.

I'm not too into this particular one, however i love seeing people actually put effort into producing thier own stuff. I would love to do that myself. However as a fellow luker/Fresh Meat my opinion stands for nothing. Also the "lip" looks like he is holding a hotdog in its mouth only its tucked into his lower lip instead of in between his teeth.

IMO......the face looks like someone added on some Playdoh. Doesn't give it much character or facial expression. The thin legs just don't make sense. If it doesn't make sense then it at least should be artistic which it isn't. The light bulb is too gimmicky for my taste. Unless a toy is purely for a kid to play with, I don't want lights or sounds. There are just too many robot cliches on it for me to appreciate.

Sometimes you take a few comments and make a HUGE generalization that "shit' got hostile and people need to chill..which I don't get and I don't understand why you take other people's criticism as 'bullying.'

People tend to be wary, in general, of others who try to sell items, post up want lists and try to pimp stuff with zero posts. That's something that happens on most message boards.

I remember when people like GATCHABERT and LASH used to get a bunch of good, bad and constructive criticism and they turned that into something even greater. They used those comments (sometimes ones that were hurtful) and turned it around and just improved so much. Nowadays..you look at those custom forums and 99% of them are "that's cool, +1, dope, etc." Basic cheer leading with zero substance or feedback.

Dear all
I have this one opportunity to reply as I am stuck out in the German wilderness living at Baba Yaga's house.
Thanks to all for the response be it good, bad or ugly.
A few quick answers;
the legs are made of steel.
Bottom lip is not liked..noted.
TJ: your opinion is as important as everyone else's..thanks
The designer is from Brooklyn
I am not keen on KR either, but they have made a lot of artists happy by making their work into a tangible object and introduced a whole new demographic to toys.
I owned a comic shop for 11 years selling stuff I really regret not keeping and had the honour of curating a few exhibitons with some amazing artists.

Hopefully this thread has not caused animosity and if anyone wants to meet at NYC toy fair for a tea or to throw rocks I'll be there. See you on the 10th..

I still think that lip should be a bowtie or something  Good luck with your work in Nuremberg Dan. From one robot fan to the other. Do stick around and post more often so that you will finally be worthy to scrape the bubblegum of our feet. I've been around for a bit and I'm still trying to understand this place. So you've got your work cut out for ya

Post Re: Introductions
In order to make navigating Skullbrain easier for newbs I've developed this list of acceptable behavior based on post count.

1st post- give yourself a good name and show your toys or compliment the latest SB figure
50 posts - you can post a want list (Don't expect to score anything you ask for).
100 posts- you can make a sales thread.
150 posts- you can post the things you make.
200 posts- you can call out newbs
350 posts -you can engage in flame wars with the locals
450 posts- you can start handing out these
600 posts- you can engage in flame wars with the admins
1000 posts- welcome to the millennium club, you will receive your special package shortly

And I'm not really qualified to go any higher, but I hope that helps.

give that 600 post a try sometime. see how far it gets you :D

I agree with bryce on this one. There is no constructive criticism on this board at all anymore. Everyone is agreeable, and quite honestly, I avoid the customs section entirely because I think the majority of it is crap.
Maybe I should make some comments about people's stuff, see how it goes over.

The other thing I don't quite "get" is why people who consider themselves "artists" can't take constructive criticism without taking it personally. If you go/went to art school, your work is critiqued constantly. If you can't handle taking criticism to improve your work and develop a style, why bother painting at all?

You all can't like every custom. Half of the customs area looks to be clogged with a bunch of toys suffocating from too many layers of paint.
There are some people who are doing a cool job painting though. I imagine those people can handle someone telling them when something is good and when something is bad.

I'd tear you a new one for your premature want list, but as a member of the millennium club I can't acknowledge your presence until you have another 100 posts under your belt.

Took out my over the top sarcastic reply, LOL. Total waste of time and have since (for the first time) used the ignore function for a more pleasant Skullbrain experience.

@Unbox= I hope you did not get offended, it was done as sarcasm. Stay cool and ignore the grumps.
