 poison of choice
I realized today that I had two "album release" parties to go to and only so many hours in the night. That boils down to some "smart" drinkin' or some stupid stupid night.
I chose stupid. Jameson all night. What you drinking?

Cabs at home with a date. Margaritas on the rocks at good bars. Long islands at bad bars or clubs.

 Re: poison of choice
Rum or Burban are my main drinks. I try different things here and there but I always come back to those two.
Gentlemans Jack is a good one too I'm with Grzlli on that one.

How does this beer rank against the Belgian doubles or triples? I've been reading up on triple recipes, and think the next beer I try to brew will be one. I had a bunch of Orval around the house and am kicking myself for drinking them all now that I realize you can just culture the yeast straight from the bottle! What have I been drinking... strong beer, nice white wine, and Drambuie. mmmm... Drambuie.

Nothing at the moment, but at any given time it could be -
In no order
Rogue Lagunitas Anderson Valley (Boont Ale) Anchor Gordon Biersch (got the $12.99 mixed 12pack going on recently) Pyramid Stone New Belgium Pike's Sierra Nevada (this is my Bud/Coors etc "go-to" beer)

How does this beer rank against the Belgian doubles or triples? It has a different feel overall, technically it's an American strong ale. I think it has more flavor and booze punch than a dubbel or tripel, but then again I'm a Stone fanboy (having them practically in my backyard helps). However I'm definitely a Belgian fan as well (I think Ommengang and Allagash are the best of the Belgian-style American breweries). Unfortunately the Double Bastard is a seasonal release, so I grab a bunch when it's released. Then for the rest of the year I just make do with the regular Bastard.

Lucky thing Canada liqueur laws don't allow beer to be mailed even across provincial borders. I'd be doing my best to talk you out of one of your stash right now! ha ha. Thanks for the info on that one. I'll keep my eyes open next time I travel. My favorite beers right now are all from Belgium. I love the Trappist ones and am kinda obsessing about un-flavored Lambics (though have only been able to try a few) There is a really good micro brewery here called Half Pints. A few of there seasonal beers have made some top beer lists.
